I want to get some people's opinion on something. I am gonna go the comic book store this weekend. I want to get some Batman comics. What should I get? I wanna pick up DK2 and I'd love to see Batman: Year One, even though thats an 80s comic, I wanna see what the next movie could be about. Any suggestions? Thanks

'TEC is Detective Comics. TP means "trade paperback." That is, the book collection made of a set of comics.

DeTECtive Comics. It's an abbreviation that has been in the letter column of 'Tec for many many years.

I agree that you should get Batman: Gotham Adventures, trade paperback, as they are great stories. Yuo should also look up the tradepaperbacks for The Batman Adventures. There are two of them that collect the first 14 (?) issues of the first animated style Batman comics. You'll love them!

Check the biggest library near you for graphic novels, or the novels KNIGHTFALL and NO MAN'S LAND. A lot of libraries are getting graphic novels, and they should have the two novels.
But if you want the classics...ask your comic book guy/girl about
Year One
War on Crime
Dark Knight Returns
Kingdom Come
CRISIS
