I watched part one of Secret Origins again tonight. While watching I noticed that, in this first portion of the movie, the writers went out of their way to emphasize that the "World's Finest" team wasn't going to cut it this time. This, of course, will lead to the League's formation over the next two weeks.
Any thoughts?

Yeah, they did that so a) the Justice League could be formed, and b) to show how powerful the aliens were.

Yeah I think those were really the only reasons behind how things were in Secret Origins, Karkull. I only take it as that, and not a blow to our or Batman/Superman's egos. Look at it this way, the rest of the world and the JL heroes wouldn't have been able to do it without the assistance of the WF gang.

I though it made everything that much more urgent.
Here are *the* two greatest superheroes of all time. Who started it all. Yet, there comes a threat that even together they cannot handle.
It had this wonderful "..they cannot do this alone. They're going to need help." vibe to it. You can call it "cheesy" but I call it spirited. A quality sorely missing from many superhero stories today.
and since this urgency was there, I thought the scene with Superman was that much more cool, sincere, and even a bit moving and triumphant (alot of people as dismissed it as "cheesy" but I guess anything that has Superman in or that isnt dark is goona be "cheesy" to them).
"Together, we could become a force which could truly work for the ideals of peace and justice".
I dont know about you, but this is the kind of thing that makes me want to cheer out loud. :)
