Seeing as I'm probably one of the very few who has a favorable opinion of 'The Proud Family'...

This is the talkback for the special Lilo & Stitch/Proud Family combo night. Post your thoughts on the second of the three lost PF episodes, "Who You Callin' a Sissy?" (As well as last week's "She Drives Me Crazy," which didn't have a talkback and I couldn't see because I was at work), as well as the debut of the second of Lilo & Stitch's four crossover episodes, "Spats."

Unfortunately, it's too late to see them if you live on the East Coast, but West Coast viewers still have their shot in just under an hour.

Synopsis for the Two Episodes:
TPF "Who You Callin' a Sissy?" - Penny stands up for Michael after he's called a sissy by fellow classmates he thought were his friends, even when he doesn't want to. Will she encourage Michael to fight back?
L & S "Spats" - Jumba and Pleakley's Bed and Not Breakfast is reopening, and the Prouds drop in as their first guests... as well as a hotel critiquer. Meanwhile, Experiment 395 is activated, which has the power to instigate arguments.

My comments:
Being a year and a half since an episode of TPF last premiered in the states (and me subsequently abandoning the show), I wondered if the show still had it's flare. It should, right... these lost episodes were created with the rest of the second/third season batch.

Not so much.

Sure... Penny's still cute as a button, LaCienega's still a diva, Oscar and Trudy still have their tiffs, and Papi's just a laugh riot. Still, as far as the half of the show where, like all DC shows, a real life lesson is taught, this is one of the show's less amusing attempts.

Lessons about name-calling, defending yourself, and (indirectly) bullying are all good and well, but this show has done it better in other episodes. Kinda emptying the barrel on ideas here... but I wasn't expecting much to begin with.

Meanwhile, a trip to Hawaii gives us the 2nd Lilo crossover. About that... I'll just say this. If the purpose of this episode was to make us believe at the end that Lilo and Penny were 'sistahs,' then they didn't do a good job. It especially didn't help that they didn't feel right together. Shoot... Jake Long and Lilo seemed better as a team last month, and their character personalities are further apart than the differences between Penny and Lilo.

The episode did have a few merits, though. As with the JL crossover, the PF's characters didn't stray from their normal habits, which is a good thing. Both also showed continuity from their own series (brining back the Bed and Not Breakfast for 'Lilo,' mentioning Penny still works for her school newspaper for 'Proud').

But talk about weird connectors... Grandpa Long falling in love with the flower woman last month, and now Lilo giving Spats to Wizard Kelly, of all people! Hmm... a sign threads should be looked for in the upcoming KP and Recess crossovers?

Maybe it just seems this crossover's a year too late (and PF's movie next week, too), but the Proud Family-Lilo & Stitch crossover turned out to be worse than the Jake Long-Lilo & Stitch one. And I was expecting it to be the other way around.

But one thing is for sure. Neither crossover has made me want to watch L&S more often or remind me of the goodness of the original movie. 0-for-2, Disney Channel. You've got another chance with KP in two weeks.

Final scores:
The Proud Family "Who You Calling a Sissy?" - 6.5 out of 10
Lilo & Stitch/Proud Family Crossover "Spats" - 7 out of 10

Actually, its not too late, there's still one more airing in an hour for Eastern. Thats if you got the DISNW channel. I think its like a few hours behind the DISNE channel.

About the crossover, I didnt like it as much as the JL Cross-over. But the main highlights i liked was Suga-mama vs Shark guy (still cant remember his name). Man, if Sugamama can take that guy down, then she's one old lady you dont want to cross paths with. I would like to see an episode in the proud family with the experiment with Kelly. Just once.

Well, i'm looking foward to the KP cross-over. Who's the experiment going to be left with in the next cross-over? Drakken? Shego? Ron? KP? Somehow I got the weird feeling Wade is gonna get it. It'd be interesting to see an argument with Drakken vs Evil Hampster. And Shark guy in a brawl with Shego (Shego will own him completely). Or KP vs Shark guy (Again, KP will own him). Rufus vs Stitch... hahahahaha.

Darn, I missed both. Doesn't sound like I missed anything, though.

I still have a morbid curiosity about the Kim Possible crossover, but I still think these crossovers are contrived. The explenations given for these charecters coming to Hawaii are just strange and don't really make sense. It comes off as bad fanfiction.

Anyway there were some okay things about the episode. I thought the shows blended together better than Jake Long did (much better  ). And the count to ten thing was an interesting solution. But what was up with giving the experiment to the Wizard so that the wrestlers could rip one another apart? What kind of moral is that?

Oh well I give it a 5 outta 10. In other words not good. Disney needs to take a page form what Nick is doing with its specials. Giving the creators one hour to cut loose, instead of just using these crossovers to boost ratings.

After seeing both episodes, I only have this to say...

Michael and LaCienega are the woest pair ever! I was surprised that Michael had trouble standing up for himself, after kids at school started calling him sissy. This type of problems at school were done before in other cartoons.

I enjoyed that this time Penny made fun of LaCienega, instead of other way around, usually LaCienega and DiJoney make fun of Penny. I do realize that it was wrong of Penny to laugh at her friends. Well at least she tried to stand up for Michael.

The moments with Trudy, Sunset, Oscar, and Felix were funny and enjoyable. :anime:

As well as for Lilo and Stitch Crossover, that episode reminded me a lot of our previous crossover with American Dragon: Jake Long.

Penny and Lilo got along surprisingly well, compared to the rest of her family and Lilo's family. There was no Nani in this episode. I noticed that Penny was wearing a Hawaiian dress to short for her and she didn't wear proper shoes with it! :o

I liked when Suga Mama gave the ultimate smack down to Gantu defending Penny!

I was surprised that Lilo gave the experiment to the Wizard! The eperiment looked like a hairy squirrel. She even forgot to name it, or maybe she should have let Penny choose an appropriate name.

I can't wait for the Kim Possible and Recess Crossovers! Is there going to be a third season of Proud Family and Lilo and Stitch?

What? Recess is cancelled? How could they possibly make a crossover? Also, when are they going to air the crossover again?

Is there going to be a third season of Proud Family and Lilo and Stitch?Proud Family has already been cancelled. The three 'lost' episodes debuting this month were produced more than a year and a half ago. The 'Proud Family Movie,' which debuts this Friday, effectively ends the series.

Lilo and Stitch... no, and I doubt it. Especially since the 'official' sequel to the first movie plans to end the series.

What? Recess is cancelled? How could they possibly make a crossover? Also, when are they going to air the crossover again? The 'Recess' crossover is the most puzzling one, and I'm not sure anyone knows why L&S picked it to do a crossover with. Granted, they were out of options when sizing up the rest of DC's current animated lineup (Dave the Barbarian, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers, The Buzz on Maggie... all with caveats that would make crossovers with them a stretch). But did they really need a crossover with a show that's been cancelled for three years (to add, PF's been done for a year and a half at least, KP for six months)?

Yeah, these crossovers are all pretty much promotional stunts... but I agree with I.R. Joey's assessment (though I haven't seen the crossover he referred to). If you're gonna do a crossover, at least make it entertaining.

Like I said, 0-for-2. KP has the best chance to break the drought, but even so, I'm not holding my breath for it.

Oh well I give it a 5 outta 10. In other words not good. Disney needs to take a page form what Nick is doing with its specials. Giving the creators one hour to cut loose, instead of just using these crossovers to boost ratings. First off I have to say I am kind of glad I missed the original Proud Family episode from what the fans are saying, well it sounds like the episode with La Cienega wws lame).

But I myself were more intrigued with the crossover, but sadly I think I.R.. You got the idea down right.. It's just part of their So Hot Summer Promotional (And SadlyThe Prouds or Kim Possible won't be coming back. with any new episodes, They are on the Down Slide, as is Lilo and Stitch (as Rufus was the Last Lilo and Stitch Episode to be produced).. Too bad for Dinsey..

But on to the Actual Crossover, The animation yet agian was smooth but the plot was rather weak. Of course the Antics that the Proud Family always throws out there is usually the reason why the show was deemed somewhat Likeable by some fans, but In the case of Spats, the Only thing funn was the fact that you see Puff the Dog Get into a fight with a Squirrel, (Who Goes Kung Fu on Puff) The Twins, Having a Baby Tussle, and Oscar and Trudy Yelling at each other.. The Last one Was rather clucked..

But the Funniest moment probably is when Sugah Mama and Gantu get intot the Wrestling ring and Sugah Mama's Tae Kwon Do kicks in as well as all those Reesling moves she learned..(From the Episode Smackdown VI: Mondo vs. Momma's Boy..)

Now the Solution was clever (just count to ten) but the idea of this being such a simple solution was in fact the weakest Link of the plot. And Gantu and Sugah Mama Going at it was even worse..

but then you have to think about the Upcoming Proud Family Movie Next Friday, Let's just say Sugah Mama In a bathtub when she accidentally activates Experiment 397, was bad enough.. I shudder to Think what might happen when we get to the movie..*Shudders* I mean I wonder what the Rating will be for the Movie as it seems they'll probably give outlandish complaints saying Sugah Mama in a Hot Tub is bad enough.

But in the end I have to agree why is it that Wizard Kelly gets 397? That's the Lamest Excuse for an ending as I see it.

All in All I give the Crossover the same score but I give it 1 more point due to the Witty fight scene between Sugah Mama and Gantu.

All Over Spats Gets a 6 out of 10 i n My Book.
:coytoe:

Edited Note: Oh and I.R. There is a Reason for Kim and Ron coming to Hawaii, it's Called

"Dr. Drakken (And Shego) have the experiment Lilo wants Rescued, and probably will try to use the experiment to take over the wold scheme, while Gantu tries to Take it from them..(I can see it now.. Shego And Gantu, and another fight scene.
