Ok with the announcement of Ducktales and Rescue Rangers coming to dvd in November, and re-watching Talespin lately I started thinking about the Disney afternoon series and thier primire episodes, because I could sworn that Plunder and Lightning Talespin's pilot which first aired as a two hour movie on my local indepent station when I was a kid, was later broken into five parts when it was added into the rotation for thest of Talespin's run. So I was wondering if anyone could help me keep this stright these are the primire episodes as they were originally aired and how they were later broken down for the rest each show's rotation as I understand them:

Ducktales:
Treasure of the Golden Suns(pilot) oringialy a two-hr movie then broken into 5 episodes
Time is Money (second season primire) original a 2 hr movie then broken into 5 indiviual epsiodes (Marking Time, The Duck Who Would Be King, Bubba Trubba, Ducks on the Lam (also known as Gone With The Bin) and Ali Bubba's Cave)
Super Ducktales (3rd season primire) originally a 2 hr movie then broken into 5 indiviual epsiodes (Liquid Assets, Frozen Assets, Full Metal Duck, The Billionaire Beagle Boys Club and Money To Burn)

Chip n' Dales: Rescue Rangers:
Rescue Rangers Away (pilot) originally a 2 hr movie then broken down into 5 individual episodes

Talespin :
Plunder and Lightning (pilot) oringinally a 2 hr movie then I thought it was into 5 eps but watching it last week I notice it was really only for episodes.

Darkwind Duck:
Darkly Dawns the Duck (pilot) oringinally aired as a 1 hr special then broken in 2 indivdual episodes

Goof Troop:
Forever Goof (pilot) oringinally aired as a 1 hr special then broken in 2 indivdual episodes (Everything's Coming Up Goofy and Good Neighbor Goofy)

Bonkers:
Going Bonkers(pilot) oringinally aired as a 1 hr special then broken in 2 indivdual episodes(with the second half being titled Gone Bonkers) also there's New Partners On The Block which I've heard was supposed to be the primire for Bonkers on Satuday morning but something happend and Bonkers ended up being a sydicated only series

Aladdin:
I've heard for awhile that Return of Jafar was originally inteded to be the pilot for the Aladdin cartoon(which makes sense because it does set up alot of thing in the show) before Disney decided to make it a direct to video release, can any one confirm or deny that?

Gargoyles:
Awakening (pilot) Orginally aired in 5 parts over five fridays then re-edieted into Gargoyles:The Heroes Awaken on VHS.

Is that everything did I miss any of them? And is that the correct info for all of them?

Looking up the shows at www.epguides.com (http://www.epguides.com) might help. :) They show TALESPIN's two-hour pilot also later being broken up into four episodes. (It doesn't really make sense to reair them like they're new episodes, though. Seems like it would be confusing as to why all of a sudden the characters are meeting each other again. lol!)

From what I remember, the numbers are right. Rescue Rangers' pilot was five episodes, Tale Spin's was four, Gargoyles' was five, and Darkwing Duck's was two. I think you're also right on Goof Troop's and Bonkers' two episodes apiece, but I'm not sure about those.

I can vouch for saying all the episodic lengths of these pilots are definitely correct.

The best of all of those pilots - both as an intro to their own series and as a single solo piece - would easily be PLUNDER AND LIGHTNING, in my opinion. That four-parter basically has everything you could want in an action-adventure show with real character development.

I've heard for awhile that Return of Jafar was originally inteded to be the pilot for the Aladdin cartoon(which makes sense because it does set up alot of thing in the show) before Disney decided to make it a direct to video release, can any one confirm or deny that?A Tad Stones interview confirmed that. After Eisner saw the horseback-across-the-desert opening, he was so impressed with the Australian animation that he ordered the work-in-progress be switched to an actual sequel. And after the series' two-parter, which normally is the cap, there were THREE more episodes left in the first season...coincidence, I think not. Those episodes wouldn't have existed if not for the other three being taken out. We never woulda seen Aziz burst into flame and blow up. He would have still been out there!

As for Goof Troop, Bonkers and DWD specials.....I have to question that. One-hour specials for those never aired on my DA-carrying affiliate. I remember watching the first Goof Troop episode ON PREMIERE DAY and it was "Everything's Coming Up Goofy." So I don't believe there were specials for DWD and onward. After all, those are two-parters, not four or five.

Goof Troop's Christmas episode, however, aired as a one-hour special. They just stuffed it with classic Goofy cartoons and an Aladdin movie preview to fill the extra time.

No, I distinctly remember the two-parters for DWD, Goof Troop, and Bonkers being aired in prime time when they were initially aired; the Disney Channel may have done something different, but I believe these were all aired on my local FOX affiliate (the same station that carried TDA at the time) prior to being added to the TDA line-up.

I was always disappointed that they weren't four or five parters, though; the Darkwing Duck pilot, while good, was certainly a let-down from the mega-stories that the previous three Disney series had done.

I wonder if there was enough material in 'Plunder & Lightning' to actually make 5 parts. Hopefully they'll release that uncut on DVD at some point. I know they cut out a musical number with Rebecca during part 2, and Baloo's 'I'm Gone' number was EXTREMELY shortened if you've heard the full CD version.

Darkwing Duck deserved an actual feature length premiere. 2 eps just wasn't deserving of this show.

Goof Troop I could less about having a prime time premiere. I remember being excited about it at first, then after I saw the first episodes I was just like 'meh'.

Bonkers was the last DA show to get a primetime premiere. I remember missing it, then catching the rerun of the special the following Saturday at noon.

They really should have ran 'Awakening' as a prime time event when Gargoyles premiered. That would have ruled.
