G4 has some new block called Barbed Wire Biscuit. Hey, at least they got an anime that's tech related.

Well, I own volumes 1 & 3 of Rahxephon, and I liked them, so that means I can put off buying them for a while more.

Though, is this going to be a one time a week thing, or will it still be useing their current format?

I'm still hoping G4 turns into Animax soon.

It should be on weeknights since it premieres on a Monday.

I don't think G4 will going Animax anytime soon. People still watch their segment shows like Icons, Judgement Day and Filter (that show is just pointless), even though I can't stand X-Play. Attack of the Show is alright and Cinematech is nice to see once in awhile.

The way I see it, anime is just filler for their late-night block. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ah, so G4 picks up Rahxephon, while Adult Swim will later on air Evangelion. Already I've read someone asking why G4 picked up the "Eva rip-off". Oh well.

At least with Rahxephon, G4 will be able to play the series all the way through and not run segments of the show into the ground like they did with Gungrave and R.O.D TV.

Next AU acquisition prediction: Melody of Oblivion.

Saw the preview of both RaXephon and Colorful on that new block thingy. Colorful didn't raise any expectations for me, but RaXephon looked OK. Gotta be better than a Julia Child-parody slicing up puppets to put in her stew, but will it be better than Dr. Tran?

Pfft... G4 should have gotten EVA and CN gotten Rahxephon.

We all knew Colorful was coming, but didn't expect RahXephon to be picked up by G4.

Maybe now, I'll be able to see the series in its entirety rather than watch just the Motion Picture version, which I have on DVD.

G4 should've gotten Eva too because they would've been able to show more stuff, but I guess adv wants sales to flow with eva.

I just noticed that I posted the same reply as you; great minds think alike, some of the times ;)

Actually, G4's editing is just as restrictive these days. TechTV could have shown more. G4 would end up deleting the same langauge as CN, and they'd either blur or completely cut other elements objectionable of the series (which, actually CN might not do given their tendency to push standards farther, not reel them back in.)

They also have contradictory editing in the same episode. I remember a couple episodes of Gungrave where "ass" and the b-word were uncensored in the beginning of the episode, then muted out mid-way, and then came back in the next episode.

Does anyone else find it funny that all these stations that air anime are seemingly in a panic due to CN picking up Eva?

I don't see what's to panic about.

Well this seems like a direct jab at Adult Swim. Fight EVA with EVA inspired knockoff.

Sadly seconded. I will eat my hat if Eva actually takes off and is a big success. I mean, I enjoy Eva, but I know it's not likely to be commericially viable. Wouldn't mind being wrong, but it's anything but a given that it'll work. In fact, I'd put the odds of it working at .0000000001% ;)

G4 picked up RahXephon? Well, I just gained back a little faith in that network.

I absolutely loved RahXephon, but. . .for some reason I couldn't stand Evangelion.

All I have to say is....YEAH! It's good to hear Rah is coming due to the fact that some people really discredit it as an Eva ripoff. It's one of my favorite series so I'm very happy. Colorful too? Interesting. I'll give this one a chance too.

It's definately G4 material and I wouldn't mind it due to the reason that I got through half the series and never got to watch the rest. It was getting good too.

Nice, and Colorful! I will at least check out. But, its only 16 episode sthat are 7 minutes each, how long will it last? And finally! Happy Tree Friends will air on TV (With the exception of that crappy winter break special on MTV2 last year). Looks great!

Just in relation to this topic, did anyone watch the Barbed Wire Biscuit preview last night? Hilarious stuff. It showed previews of all the shows that are going to be on the block. Talking puppets trying to escape the wrath of the butcher knife and failing...looks promising.

Well, I guess I could give the show another chance. I saw the first three episodes a couple of years ago and was far from impressed, but eh...it's new programming.

At least it's not Judgment Day. That show makes me cringe...a lot. =/

G4 (or rather its predecessor, Tech-TV), had some pretty good anime shows in its Anime Unleashed block (Silent Mobius, Last Exile, R.O.D.-TV), but they do edit the shows for commercial placement (and their commercial breaks are endless, with at three breaks every half-hour). Most of the episodes clock in at about 19-20 minutes without commercials. This could hurt RahXephon, which is a deeply-textured drama. It certainly won't help to have exposition consigned to the cutting-room floor.

That Happy Tree Friends thing is nasty. I know it's meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but it's really a one-joke premise that gets old very fast.

I don't like the direction G4 is going with the new block. Anime becomes late-night filler in a sandwich of live-action science slapstick (Brainiac), sick, twisted violence (Happy Tree Friends) and videogame sex (the new "adult-er" version of Cinematech). But then, I'm not part of the 12-24 demographic that G4 wants to reach so I'm sure they don't care what I think. (^_*)

Anime becomes late-night fillerAnime Unleashed was ALWAYS late night filler. It's just now it might get some promotion more than 10 minutes before the block airs.
