This is the talkback thread for "Mermaid Forest: Quest For Death" Emo On Immortality (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=5020).

It's like The Little Mermaid meets InuYasha. Or something.

Well now, isn't he a handsome devil...

Ouch. Knux really came down on this hard. Not that I blame him. I think I sat through this when anime club played it way back in my freshman year--easily one of the most terrible things I've ever watched. Not interesting on any level, and absolutely terrible pacing. The only good part is, I've managed to forget large parts of it since then.

To summarize...yeah, its really as bad as Knux says.

Okay...
Maybe it's just you present-day fans, no correction maybe it's just you two. But Rumiko Takahashi's Mermaid Saga was the first of her writing that really went into dealing with the horror genre. I always thought the manga and original OAVs were excellent works. Not because the story is so engrossing but it was still something nice to read/watch from a woman whose popularity is based mostly on comedy.

As far as the TV series goes I've heard a mix of good things and so-so. I'm still getting it.

While I don't find RT's works "the bomb" as I did in the day I still find all of her manga readable (Inuyasha is dragging quite a bit though) and her anime versions worth a peak or two.

O-chanNo, it sucks

and I've seen Panda and White Serpent(that's how far my experiance goes back)...

Certain things should just not be animated and in this case localised, Mermaid Forest was brought over since it's one of RT's works. They wanted to reel in the people who watched Ranma and IY...

Despite the review I'm still interested in seeing this. The Mermaid Saga is reportedly RT's finest work.
