www.zap2it.com reports:

What will they do for homework? Watch TV? TV's longest running family still on the air, the Simpsons, will be the subject for a new class at Michigan's Siena Heights University this fall, according to the AP.

The class, "Animated Philosophy and Religion," will study how FOX's "The Simpsons" is part of popular culture. Readings will include "The Simpsons and Philosophy: The D'Oh! Of Homer" by William Irwin and "The Gospel According to The Simpsons: The Spiritual Life of the Most Animated Family."

For the past 12 years, "The Simpsons" has made audiences laugh by poking fun at American culture and religious subjects.

Interesting...

It's kind of ironic that this is exactly the sort of thing that the Simpsons would probably make fun of.

--college students' parents are hollering, "Is this what my hard-earned money is going to pay for? Watching cartoons?!"

I was just going to post this.

I'm sure Matt Groening is just stunned that someone would actually do this...

Speaking as a college student, that would be SO cool!! I just finished a Philosophy class this semester come to think of it. But anyway, sign me up!! I'd SO get an A, hands down. That's like devising a college course out of these boards and their topics! I'd rock the casbah as far as grades! :p

I heard on the radio once that there was a Barrymore 101 course in the state where Drew Barrymore grew up, and for your major project, you had to act out a scene from one of her movies. :p

Once again, I gotta say I love Nightwing's avatar.
