Okay, lets all take a breath, this is not to beat a dead horse or anything like that....

And this isnt meant to continue the conversation from Fone Bone's original thread on this issue, which can be found here:

http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=146030

Here's a quote from Dwayne McDuffy:

The "interview" was racist and homophobic. Toonzone seems to be cool with that, in fact they seem to find it amusing. It's their house, they can do what they want. From now on they'll do it without me."
which can be found here:

Now, before starting, i just want to say that i am not trying to insult or offend DM at all, infact, i really think it would be unfair to hold him to different standards because he's a 'celebrity'. So, thats why i can understand his reaction to the racist fake 'interview'. I'd be pissed too.

But, i cant help but feel a tiny bit hurt by it. He's been posting here for a while, and for him to just write us off like that, because some lame ass made some retarded fake interview, which most people didnt even bother with, i dont know, i feel sort of hurt. Maybe insulted might be a better word, but i'm really not sure.

There was some talk that this could have been the "straw" that broke the camel's back. To that, after a while to think about it, I kind of feel like asking: Were we that Bad? I know i can be harsh in the episode reviews, but isnt that what message boards are for, in a way? Our 'anonimity' kind of allows us to express things in different ways than 'real life' allows, which can be beneficial i think. I mean, i like the 'online community' here, and i know that i can get a little obnoxious at times, as can others, but isnt that kind of part of the deal w/ message boards? Its part of what makes it enjoyable to go to them. And even with all that, i still say this board is really civil and well maintained. because a few of us can get carried away at times, could that have made this incident the 'straw'? i tend to think probably not, but i dont know.

But regardless of if this was the 'straw' or if it was just the interview, i still feel kind of hurt or insulted (i dont know which one!) that such a group of loyal fans could be written off like that. Again, i dont want to offend DM, and i'm not looking to offend anyone by this thread. I dont know, it's probably silly, but i feel a little, ah, i'm gonna say hurt.

I was wondering how others felt about McDuffy's comment and decision to leave here. Was he justified? Are we a bunch of jerks? Am i a jerk? You know what im saying?

Lets remember to keep the discussion civil :)

peace.

ps--btw, McDuffy could call us all a bunch of s.o.b.s. for all i care, he's still one of the brilliant minds behind JL and JLU, and so, regardless of how i carry on, he's a demigod, period. And he wrote the best episode of JLU to date, TOAFT part 2 (yep, i said it), so, yeah, demigod.

Im glad you got this off your chest, DP... However, this issue has been explored over and over and OVER again. There is no point in bringing it up AGAIN. What happened is unfortunate yes... but lets move on. If Mr. McDuffie chooses to return to talk about what he helped create, he will on his own. The door is always open to him.

We are glad you care, DP... but if you feel you need explore this and open a dialogue about it, why not talk to him directly? He is approachable via his e-mail and site. Who knows... maybe talking with you and a few of the caring people from this board may make him rethink his choice.

Until then (if ever) this thread is closed.
