since Lex, who was pretty much the main villain from this last season, is returning again to be apart of the Legion of Doom, should Brainiac return as well?

I dunno...while it would be a nostalgic nod to the old SuperFriends cartoon, I don't think it really fits with what happened in the recent DCAU events.

Brainiac has always had his own agenda, and I doubt he would trust anyone after Darkseid betrayed him, unless he could be one with them like he was with Luthor.

On the other hand, he may still be in Luthor. At the clip I saw at Comic Con the episode began with Luthor driving a barreling prison car down the road seemingly talking to...himself. As in, there was no one else in the car, and he was snapping at someone who the audience couldn't see/hear. Perhaps there's a little bit of Brainiac left over? Or Luthor's just crazy.

For some reason I don't see it happening. On JLU, Brainiac is more of a loner than a team player. Plus I doubt he would be willing to take a backseat to likes of Grodd and other baddies in the group. Like another poster has said, Brainiac has his own agenda.

Given that his chief (if not only) goal has been total destruction of the planet, I can't imagine him working well with a group of greedy and/or power-hungry opportunists.

Manipulating things from behind the scenes for his own purposes? That could work, but we just saw that concept played out. It'd be repetitive to do it again.

In the first DC Comics Presents Annual, there was a team-up between the Earth-1 and Earth-2 Luthors. But if I remember correctly, the partnership fell apart when the Earth-1 Lex realized that while he wanted to rule the world, the Earth-2 Lex wanted to destroy it. Their aims are diametricaly opposed, and two such people can only work together if one is attempting to exploit the other for his own benefit.

I was at the Comic Con screening, too, and

What I took Luthor talking to himself to mean was that he was being directed where to go by Grodd, talking to him via his mind.

I certainly dig the DCAU version of Brainiac much more than his comics version, but he seems almost above hanging around with something like the Legion of Doom.

Ohhh. That makes sense. One can only hope, that maybe he'd be back...
