View Full Version : Is Foster's getting overexposed?

Just this week I was watching Foster's and I realized that CN had played the episode I was watching, My so called wife (which admitadly gets a little better as I see it again) three or more times in the previous three days. Additionally, on back to back days (Sunday and Monday) there were marathons of the show in which much of season 2 was played. Now I love this show to death (it's my favorite CN original right now), and I understand that it's a ratings giant on CN, but I have to wonder if a diservice is being done in how much it might be oversaturating the airwaves. I guess what I'm wondering is if we're getting to much of a good thing. And if with time we might get a little overstuffed so to speak on Fosters.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
(Oh and before you assume that I watched the episode all three times, I just watched it once. I just happened to notice that it was on the other times when I was channel surfing).

I believe it gets the most airplay on CN apart from KND, so... it's kinda worse than Teen Titans pimping was, but now that Khan Piece is taking its prime time slot and Miguzi's getting Juniper Lee, Teen Titans'll only be Toonami, so that's a definite WTF!
As for Foster's, CN realise that it is a ratings behemoth and milk it like they milk every ratings behemoth. More ratings = More money... at least that's how it's supposed to work. They replay the shows that get ratings, therefore kids couldn't give a flying crap, and CN's ratings go up. It doesn't matter to them that they possibly go through a whole season in a week, no! Not at all.
But really, you don't have it as bad as CNUK, doing hour long marathons 3 times a frickin day of the show, EVERY SINGLE DAY UNTIL SEPTEMBER! o.o

It has been, but I wouldn't say as much as some of the other stuff that airs on CN. I read all these topics hearing how a show gets too much exposure, and topics that say that a show isn't getting enough exposure (I seriously doubt no matter what, one side is always going to be questioning the network(s)'s decisions). Am I the only that believes that? For a while, Foster's was only aired a few times a week. Now, it's greater than that. I would say that it's nowhere near as overexposed as Krypto (which I feel really has been exposed to the extreme, but I'm not really complaining about it). Honestly, I feel that some of CN's other top shows (KND, EEnE, B&M) are being aired as much or more than Foster's.
I don't really care if a show gets too much or too little time. If my favorite programs are on, that's great. If not, oh, well. If I want to see something else, I'll flip the channels.

Cartoon Network's schudule really needs some work. I really hate the whole 'Lumpus and Slinkman's Cabin Fever" thing because all it does is play re-runs of shows we've all seen a million times and than some movie that no one will probably watch. However the shorts bewtween the shows are pretty entertaining.

Are you only just now noticing CN's current schedule strategy?

No, it's been bugging me ever since the beginning of Summer.

You know lately I haven't really been seeing a lot of Get Animated commericals on CN. This bugs me, but summer is the time when kids are out of school, CN tries to dedicate and compete more on the weekday especially in from 10am-4pm. It seems CN is making it worse by overplaying cartoons that are popular and makes kids go inside instead of watching Nick or going outside. All they care is making money, not the walfare of kids. However, we only have one month to go and the schedule will have huge changes starting the day after Labor Day because the kids are going back to school.

All they want to do is get them to sit in front of the TV rotting their brains out. The only reason companies even do this "get fit, eat healthy" crap is to make gullible parents believe that they're part of an ethical organisation.

Well Nick actually put their money where there mouth was that one time and actually blacked out for several hours. Of course I don't know how effective it was in this age of Spongebob videogames, Fairly Odd Parents DVD's, and Dora the explorer online activities., but hey at least they put words into action.
