After hearing the devastating news on CN's news schedule taking place next month, I would like to know from you guys what would make Cartoon Network a much better network?

I voted for the first one, though all of them but the 3rd are very good ideas. The Cartoon Cartoons are usually hit-or-miss, and I think that they are more frequently "miss".

Like Joe, I voted for the first choice. I think the second choics about the rare shows is a good one.

Some shows I'd like to see:

-- the ORIGINAL Alvin & the Chipmunks
-- Calvin & the Colonel
-- the Gerald McBoingBoing show
-- Hoppity Hooper

I think that it would bwe a good idea to get the rights to other studios cartoons, but the folks at Time Warner probably don't want to spend the money on something with a limited appeal.
I'd love to see them run stuff like Woody Woodpecker or Mr. Magoo or Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle.

You missed the thread about CN network pulling a few of their classic cartoon showings in order to air more Cartoon Cartoons. Batman is taking over the 11 and 11:30 slots too, or something like that. It's frustrating.

As for my vote, I pick options one, two or four. As for option three...NO!!!!!!

I voted for the first one. I'd like to see some of the Flip the Frog and the Felix the Cat cartoons. I would also like to see the Disney-produced Oswald shorts with their original Disney titles.

Even though all of the choices were very convincing (except for #3, of course), I voted for #1.

I would really like to see CN acquire rights to the DePatie-Freleng and Walter Lantz shorts. Both were on at the same time on CN. These cartoons would fit perfectly in on the ACME HOUR, and would be great to see hour installments of them.

CN showing Harveytoons is probably a possibilty. Classic Media (the owners of these cartoons) is trying very hard to make collections of their classic cartoons on VHS and DVDs, unlike the original copyright owners. So maybe CN would be an option, for them to get their cartoons more widely exposed. These cartoons would fit perfectly on a Popeye cartoon program, since most of them were made at the same time of those cartoons, and have the same kind of music, animation, and feel.

I voted for the first one.

I think CN acquire the rights to the following companies:
VIACOM (Terrytoons, Fleischer)
UNIVERSAL (Walter Lantz)
DEPATIE-FRELENG (Pink Panther, The Insprector, etc.)
FILM PRESERVATION ASSOCIATIES (Ub Iwerks, Van Beuren)
COLUMBIA (UPA Cartoons, Fox and Crow, Scrappy, Krazy Kat, etc.)

I voted for uncut cartoons...but what would help tremendously is bringing the Pink Panther, Aarvark and Inspector Depatie/Freleng toons back. I miss Pink Panther particularly, I always considered him a Warner character even though he's not...he belongs back on the Acme Hour. I know CN dropped the rights...but they need them back.

Lets face the cold, hard truth, guys. All CN really cares about are the Cartoon Cartoons. They're even eliminating several vintage cartoon airings to show these worn-out repeats. If this keeps up I'm sure CN wont bother to pick up any more vintage cartoon licenses. They're saturating the schedule with shows no-one cares about, ordering very small runs of new shows and airing old episodes of Dexter and PPG so often I dont think there are any episodes I even care enough about to watch anymore. It's really pathetic. What's worse is that networks like Disney and Nick are were worse in this regard. Television is becoming one crap-fest after another. Well, at least we've got our Looney Tunes DVDs to watch....oh wait...we dont got those either!

Another version of "Adult Swim", featuring UNCUT" classic cartoons

If CN acquired all the rights to the companies I mentioned, then this is probably what the Acme Hour would look like:

"The Great Piggy Bank Robbery" (WB/Daffy Duck)
"The Fox and the Grapes" (Columbia/Fox & Crow)
"Big Bad Sinbad" (Famous Studios/Popeye)
"The Barber of Seville" (Walter Lantz/Woody Woodpecker)
"The Truce Hurts" (MGM/Tom and Jerry)
"The Pink Phink" (DePatie-Freleng/The Pink Panther)
"When Magoo Flew" (UPA/Mr. Magoo)

...and this would probably be LNB&W.....

"Spooks" (Iwerks/Flip the Frog)
"The Film Fan" (WB/Porky Pig)
"Opening Night" (Van Beuren/Cubby the Bear)
"Cleaning House" (MGM/Capt. and the Kids)
"Boop-Oop-A-Doop" (Fleischer/Betty Boop)
"Hot Dog" (Fleischer/Bimbo)
"Hello, How Am I?" (Fleischer/Popeye)

Aha!! Now take this list and explain what would be edited, if anything.

I dunno...I for one have seen easily 98% of the Loony Toons, and I liked them a heck of alot betterer than the other similar cartoons of the era(s).

I'd like to see less Cartoon Cartoons too, and more older cartoons, say classic 80s fare, like GI Joe, Transformers, He-Man...

I'd like them to do one, two, and four, but I chose number one. I'd like to be able to see Tex Avery's Lantz cartunes on Acme Hour, or see the rest of the Fox and Crow cartoons. Or get the Pink Panther back.
