View Full Version : I'm Getting Quite Sick and Tired of Orochimaru...

One Piece rules, because in the same span of time I've seen more adventures, locales and more unstoppable vile villians that have toppled at the mighty fist of Luffy and his crew.
Naruto on the other hand hasn't had a new bad guy for near 100+ episodes.
Do we ever get to see an end to this guy or what? I wanna see more of the Naruto world and be done with this Orochimaru guy... I mean, he was good and scary when he first showed up, but even then I've never liked the dumpy design of the guy.
If I liked his character design and found he had a personality that I loved to hate, then SURE, I wouldn't mind having him around, but he's not all that dynamic or interesting and not even fun to look at.
Just needed to get that outta my system, but for the love of Cybertron does the show ever get rid of this guy?

I feel pretty much the same. Orochimaru just isn't an interesting villain. All he cares about is immortality and becoming the most powerful ninja the world has ever seen. That's old hat.

Oro is definetely annoying, but you're saying there have been no new villians introduced? Maybe not in the anime yet, since we're stuck in filler-land, but in the manga most definately.
Inuyasha is worse than Naruto in terms of having one villian for far too long, imo.

Aren't we forgetting Itachi and his crew?

Yeah Orochi sure can get boring. I mean... dang DBZ didn't even have Frieza that long (though he does show up from time to time).
Orochi is like the new Naraku. Just can't seem to kill the guy and the main character is always thinking about finally beating him down. It's certainly getting old.
I like how the build up to the final battle with any given foe on One Piece happens. It's different every time for the most part. And that makes it drag a LOT less than Naruto. I was about to go nutz watching that long Konoha 5 arc filled with so much back story. And then after that... annoying filler. One Piece's pacing is insanely better and the characters are more interesting.
Orochimaru is a neat and creepy guy but he's getting old fast. And it's annoying how every "bad" thing seems to involve him. Can't wait until the Akatsuki start making some big moves in the anime.

One Piece battles better than Narutos'? Is that what people are saying? I always thought it was the other way around. Just, with One Piece beating it out in everything else. Well, except design. But, that's about it. As for Oro. Well, I think the comparison to Naraku would hurt his feeligns if he were real. Naraku is about one of the most retarded villains ever. He goes around making enemies for NO REASON. Oro atleast has something he wants from his victims. But, yeah, I too did wonder why he was even still alive. How many times has he almost been beaten? I'm surprised assassins haven't killed him yet.

I gotta' say I'm getting darn sick of Naruto in general myself. Partly because I've just truly discovered One Piece (which does everything Naruto does only far better), but also the main characters are really getting on my nerves, the fights have become FAR too repititious (Rasengan this, Kage Bunshin that) and Naruto's stupid speach style that I once found cute is just plain obnoxious now.
One Piece, on the other hand, seems to take the best parts of Dragon Ball and Naruto and combines them into a very well-executed story. I have yet to see filler that truly annoys me like Naruto's filler does, the locales and villians are more plentiful and varied (as JohnCrichton said) and the fights are far more creative, along the lines of what the original DB's fights were before the power-ups of DBZ were introduced.
I do hope once this filler arc of the anime ends that things pick back up in Naruto, because overall I do still like the show... I'm just getting sick of how stagnant it is right now.

Orochimaru has effectively become the new Naraku.
Not good.

I thought he was pretty menacing when he first showed up, but when he didn't fall at either of the big showdowns....that's just annoying. The Hokage made a HUGE sacrifice to take Orochimaru down... but he's still around and just fine!
Sure, he can't use his arms... for now, but he's still cuttin' up like he always did.
Could someone who's read the manga spoil me with a Yes or No and just let me know if we see an end to this guy?
Itachi... that would've been cool if he was the new nemasis of the Konoha village, but he's not.... not now at least. He was around for a while, but once a-frelling-gain, we got Orochi.
And while One Piece fights aren't as meticulously detailed and choreographed as Naruto's, they're better because they mold well into a grand story that continues and doesn't up and suddenly stop for three months to try and get through a fight. The story and journey usually roll on while the battles occur.
That and with enough guts, gumpstion and screaming the bad guy will go down for the count and we'll be on to our next vile bastard instead of having to deal with the same guy again.

About where the manga is in terms of Orochimaru:
He hasn't shown up again since the time Sasuke went to him. The manga's been mostly focusing on the Akatsuki villains recently

While I do think the villians of One Piece are much cooler (and funnier) overall, I can't see why people are calling Orochimaru the "New Naraku". Beside the fact they are both powerful, plotting villians who like to disguise themselves as other people from time to time, there are importance differences as well.
Naraku has almost always gotten away with just about every evil act he has committed in IY since the beginning of the series; in fact the heroes at times are almost powerless to stop him. He has almost god-like powers, and he is truly not just immortal, but also just about nigh unkillable as well. If one of his key minions gets killed by Inuyasha, he can just create new ones from his own body. Naraku also has a rather bland personality for a villian (which is never good for any story), and to be perfectly honest the true motives for his actions have never been revealed by Rumiko Takahashi even after some 350 chapters after he was first introduced, which makes his behavior seem both arbitrary and incomprehensible to the reader (also very bad for any story).
Now Orochimaru has his flaws as a villian, but he is far better written then what I have described above. His motives while simple can be easily understood, and his personality is both striking and creepy, good traits in a bad guy. Also he is far from infallible, his plans are often are foiled by his enemies, and he has paid a heavy price for those failures. The one victory he has really gained since he has been introduced could turn out to be fleeting as well. He lost a lot of his best men during the Sound Four arc, and I doubt he will get what he wants from Sasuke when everything is over. So Orochimaru really does not bother me that much at all, he is actually quite a decent villian; but that being said I also hope he dies in a most humiliating and painful manner.
