THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SPOILERS ABOUT THE NEW FILM VANILLA SKY.

WARNING

SPOILERS

SPOILERS

Anyhow, for everybody who went to go see Vanilla Sky this opening weekend, what did you think about its similarities with the Batman episode "Perchance to Dream"?

It struck me as being just about the same story line as when Batman was trapped in the Mad Hatters Dream Machine.

Most film critics based the film because of how confusing it was. I'm glad Perchance to Dream helped me understand it.

Also, I wonder if Cameron Crowe is a Batman fan or something. Who ripped off who? I know that Vanilla Sky is a remake of some old French film. Perhaps Perchance to Dream is a rip off of that old movie.

Thanks Batman!

Vanilla Sky was a fantastic film that will sail over the heads of alot of people. It's a remake of the 1997 Spanish film "Open Your Eyes". I wasn't confused. I thought it was pretty straight forward myself. The movie wasn't marketed as a scifi film, and I think it funny that most people have no idea what they are getting into. It's basically an art film, with a commercial gloss and stars and I'm happy as heck that alot of people will get to see it(thanks to the way it was sold).

The idea that the world might be an illusion, and reality far different than we imagine, goes back at least to the 17th century, when philosopher Rene Descartes in the "Meditations" hypothesized that he was being deceived by an "evil genius" into having nothing but false beliefs and illusory perceptions. Since then it has been a staple of both philosophical and fantasy literature. (In "Perchance to Dream" the Hatter even refers to "Through the Looking Glass," in which Alice is told that she is just a figment being dreamed about by the White King.)
