The only person I've come across he's related to is Portgas D. Ace.

I wouldn't be surprised though. In fact, it would be more of a twist to me if Luffy wasn't in some way related to Gold Rogers.

Well, given that Roger's real name is Gol D. Roger and Blackbeard's real name is Marshall D. Teach the most popular theory is that:

Roger is the father of Teach, who is the father of Luffy and Ace.

Evidence in support of this theory:
Aokiji, one of the highest ranking Marines, mentions knowing Luffy's grandfather

Dr. Kureha, after seeing Luffy's wanted poster with his full name(which was after Chopper left her to go with Luffy), asks Dalton and the villagers if they know about "Gol D. Roger"(first time the name was used), and mentions that Chopper went off with a dangerous guy

Gan Forr, someone who knew Roger when he was alive, observes that Luffy is not only similar to Roger, but has the same initial, and asks Robin if Luffy is related to Roger. Robin, as I recall, gave a rather evasive answer about how Luffy is a similar guy to him, or something along those lines.

Dragon's certainly connected to the Luffy/Roger story, but I'm not sure if he's Luffy and Ace's father. He was looking out for Luffy in Loguetown, so its possible he's an old friend of Roger's. It is always possible that he's related as well(D for Dragon, after all).

Flaw 2) This sort of ending is utter crap and realy won't do Japan any good once several Japanese childrens figgure out they have wasted the best years of thier lives waiting for this moment, only to find out it's "OH SNAP! THE WORld@S WOST ENDING!!11!!! LOLZ, THANKS FoR PLAYING SUCKSA!" Because if Crime went up in 1997 [after Dragonball ended] they will sky rocket after that kind of ending.

Tough to say how old he was, he'd have to be at least 40 for the grandpa theory to work. Whitebeard was supposedly his contemporary, and he's pretty old, so that seems to work out nicely for his age. I'd say probably around 40-45.
