Plot: While vacationing in the Ozark Mountains, Bugs Bunny encounters Curt and Pumpkinhead Martin, two dimwitted hillbillies who are duped by Bugs into a violent square dance.

Comments: This one is probably Robert McKimson's BEST Bugs Bunny cartoon! Did he write the lyrics to Bugs' Squaredance?

Bloopers: When Bugs is disguised as a hillbilly girl, the skirt he's wearing changes constantly. Sometimes it's whole, other times it's ripped up and torn.

Favorite Line: "Promanate across the floor, stash it on right out the door. Out the door and into the glade and everybody promanate! Step right up, you're doin' fine! Now, I'll pull your beard, you pull mine! Yank it again like you did before, break it up and tug-a-war! Now, into the brook and fish for the trout. Dive right in and splash about! Trout, trout, pretty little trout, one more splash then come right out! Shake like a hound dog, shake again, while you roll around in the old pig pen. Roll on some more, you all know how! Roll around like an old fat sow! Allimen-left with your left hand, follow through with a right, left grand, now lead your partner through the dirty old thing, follow through with an elbow swing. Grab a fencepost, hold it tight. Whomp your partner with all your might! Hit him in the shin, hit him in the head. Hit him again, that critter ain't dead! Whomp him low, and whomp him high, stick your finger in his eye! The pretty-little rhythem, needs a pretty-little sound, so bang your heads against the ground! Promonate around the room, promonate like a bride and groom! Open up the door and step right in, close the door, and into a spin! Whirl, whirl, twist and twirl, jump around like a flying squirrel. Don't you cuss, and don't you swear, just come right out and form a square! Now, right hand over and left hand under, both join hands and run like thunder. Over the hill and over the dale, duck your head and lift your tail! Don't you stray and don't you rome, turn around and promonate home. Corn in the weat bags, weat in the sack, turn your partner, promonate back! And, now you're home. Bow to your partner. Bow to the jant across the hall. And, that is all!" --Bugs Bunny

Technical Stuff: Made in 1950, directed by Robert McKimson

You're 100% right, Brandon - I think this is McKimson's best one. Never fails to bring a smile.
But - as someone who actually served time for Illegal Squaredance Calling (:)), and with all due respect, this is how it goes - I think :

"Promenade across the floor
sashay right out the door.
Out the door and into the glade
and everybody promenade!
Step right up, you're doin' fine,
I'll pull your beard, you pull mine,
yank it again like you did before,
break it up with a tug-of-war!
Now into the brook and fish for the trout. Dive right in and splash about!
Trout, trout, pretty little trout
one more splash then come right out!
Shake like a hound dog, shake again,
wallow around in the old pig pen.
Wallow some more, you all know how,
roll around like an old fat sow!
Allemand left with your left hand,
follow through with a right that's grand,
now lead your partner the dirty old thing, follow through with an elbow swing.
Grab a fencepost, hold it tight.
Whomp your partner with all your might!
Hit him in the shin, hit him in the head. Hit him again, that critter is dead!
Whomp him low, and whomp him high,
stick your finger in his eye!
Pretty-little hand, pretty-little sound,
bang your heads against the ground! Promenade all around the room,
promenade like a bride and groom,
open up the door and step right in,
close the door, and into a spin!
Whirl, whirl, twist and twirl,
jump all around like a flying squirrel,
now don't you cuss, and don't you swear, just come right out and form a square!
Now, right hand over and left hand under, both join hands and run like thunder.
Over the hill and over the dale,
duck your head and lift your tail!
Don't you stray and don't you roam,
turn around and promenade home.
Corn in the wheat bag, wheat in the sack, turn your partner, promenade back!
And, now you're home.
Bow to your partner.
Bow to the gent across the hall.
And, that is all!"

Seriously, I did that whole routine at a Square Dance held in a local retirement community (in Bugs' voice!) and I've never seen old folks laugh so much!

What can I say, a classic. The squaredance scene is excellent.

Pretty-little hand, pretty-little sound,
bang your heads against the ground!

All the other lines are right, but just `cause I want to set the record straight for posterity, the correct line here is:

Pretty-little rhythum, pretty-little sound, bang your heads against the ground!

I went back and listened to it and you're RIGHT! Thanx!

Actually, I consider it to be tied for first with Hot Cross Bunny, Rebel Rabbit, and What's Up, Doc.

(Said in Bugs' "Aw, shucks" voice) Well, I CAN'T pick just one! :D
