I finally bought the first season of the Simpsonson DVD and I saw the outtakes for "Some Echanted Evenings", which are snippets of unused animationsfrom that show. I believe they came out crap and the producers had the animators do it all over again.

I noticed that the picture quality was bad. It was scratchy, and the film transfer looked like they projected the film and used the video camera instead of a telecine. Not to mention, a timer on the top left corner of the screen.

Was that the only existing copy of the unused animations? Did they lost the original 16mm film of the scenes?

I admit, it was interesting seeing it though. And I thought the commentry was hilarious.

How does a telecine work? I've never heard of such a thing....is it how they got film reels onto TV broadcasts before the invention of videotape? Probably, but how did it work?

Wow, I've been asking a lot of questions lately.

Telecine is when you transmit film reels (usually 16mm) to TV. This was before video tape was used. It is also used to transfer film to video.
