As if anyone's suprised, Disney is preparing to make a 3rd Toy Story just waiting for the right script, though. Do we really need a third one to tarnish the rep of these 2 great films?

SERIOUSLY, I had a dream about Toy Story 3 a couple months ago. From time to time, I have these intesely vivid dreams that play out like movies, dreams that are with me even after I wake up to hit the snooze button and fall back asleep. I guess it is the creative part of me that has these dreams. In the dream, Woody and Buzz were given to a new kid and it was about those two core characters with a whole new set of toys. I really can't remember more than that (I guess I should write down these dreams more when I have them!)
But then a few weeks after I had that dream, I heard about the REAL plans to make Toy Story 3, but this time with a WHOLE new set of toys. I don't know if they are going to go with that plan, but I think after capping off the great Toy Story with the incredibly great Toy Story 2, Pixar just might be biting off more than they can chew here.
Time will tell. I believe if anybody can make a great Toy Story 3, it will be Pixar, but they are bound to have their first flop sometime, and this also could be it.

Really? Huh. Last I heard, a Toy Story 3 wasn't likely. The logic went something like this... Pixar is under contract to do five films for Disney. Pixar makes Toy Story 2, it's a great hit. Pixar says, well, that's another movie down. Disney says wait, no it's not, our contract was for five ORIGINAL movies. TS2 didn't count. Pixar says, dangit. No more sequels, then.
Maybe things have changed since then. Or maybe Disney applied a good deal of arm-twisting, which wouldn't surprise me. Are there any further details about TS3 at this point?
A third one _could_ be cool, since the second one managed to be even better than the amazing original. But I wouldn't risk it... even though Godfather II was better than the first, Godfather III was a disaster.

Somebody has got to take a look at Pixar's contract! If I were them, I would be fighting that in courts! If a sequel isn't an original movie, then all these cookie cut, assembly line direct to video sequels Disney has planned means that at least 40% of their releases in the next few years won't be original material. (Not to mention, George Lucas then would have hardly made an original movie since Episode 4!)
Dang it, I wish I knew where I had heard that info about Toy Story 3. I actually think I heard about it from somebody at work who is a huge Disney fan who keeps up on all this stuff. I will have to ask him where he found the original info.

My question is what would they do with Slinky Dog? Slinky Dog's VA, Jim Varney passed away. Would they give SD a silent part?

My current understanding of this project is that it will feature new toys.
Personally, I think leave the two out there as is and don't attempt to make a sequel. Either it will be so great, Disney will be demaning a fourth movie, or it will be a miserable failure, which won't sit well with the fans. But I just don't see it being such a great movie if they use different toys. Really, how many more toys are out there?
You know what I would have liked to see in Toy Story, but I am sure getting the license to do this would have been next to impossible, is have figures from the Star Wars line in there. Those were always my personal favorite toys growing up.
