On another board, I was told that there was defiantly a legion series in the works. Can anyone tell me if this is true, and if so, what format will they use? (i.e. is is sorta kiddie-fare like Teen Titans or straight Timmverse animation like JLU?)

And are there any screen-shots of the characters or which uniforms they will use or whatever?

Basically, can someone get me up to speed. The legion was my second favorite comic when I was young and I've been hoping against hope for a DCU Legion series for years.

Also, I understand the Legion appeared in a S:TAS episode? I don't remember this. Is there a place where i can get info on that episode (if indeed it exists)?

I haven't heard anything about a Legion series though.

Yes, there is a Legion of Superheroes cartoon in development:http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=3356

Wow, the Penguin didn't know about this? I though mods had super powers and knew everything.

Thanks for the links guys. that article was the one I'd known about before - i was hoping for more elaboration...BUT the screengrabs for "New Kids" greatly relieved my fears about the animation style. the timmverse seems to be pretty consistant so given they have established that "look" i don't worry so much they will go nutty with it.

Here's hoping it gets the green light!!

So we are all them assuming that the JLU crew is going to be the one on the series?

It does look like a natural, given their successful use of them before
(nice use of the Sprouse-designed uniforms, BTW. They are probably the sleekest in the Legion's vast history).

Also, this whole JLU season has been a showpiece on how to craft half-hour episodes for a team with a massive number of members (i.e. "pick a few to focus on, put some more in the background to add some subtle depth to the tale). I'm sure many people's thoughts on the first JLU episode were like mine: "Geez, this is like the Legion with piles of members running all over the place!"

The Legion would seem to serve as a nice pairing with TT in a hour-long block on CN.

Back in May, JLU comic cover artist Ben Caldwell (http://www.daredetectives.com/) mentioned having been commissioned by WB Animation to do concept art for the Legion series.

Ben made it sound like this series (assuming WB goes through with it), may not necessarily tie into the Legion cameo in S:TAS or any other WB series to date. Also, I think he said that it sounded like bt wasn't directly involved in the series, although he did think it was bt that recommended him to WB.

So far no direct member of Timm and his staff are involved with the Legion series. I'm not positive but I think Burnett may be. The series will be something more of the Teen Titans or The Batman feel.

I could live with something like "The Batman"...except for the re-designed villians it's not bad. but please oh please not TT style. ...

One of the stafferd from the O.C. series on Fox and the new Avenger's comic, can't remember is involved. I'll look up the thread on the forums I mod and edit it to show the link so you can read it Ra's.

EDIT: I believe this is the one.

If they can pull this off, I will have collections of all my favorite mags growing up on DVD.

LSH
Titans
Justice League
Batman
Fantastic Four
X-Men

If CN ever gets an Avengers show off the ground, I may have an heart attack.:D

I think that a Green Lantern Corps cartoon would be much more enjoyable and would be much more appealing to a general public more familiar with the concept of Green Lantern than the Legion, but I'll take what I can get, provided that it's not done in a dumb-looking anime-inspired style. (I really want to get into Teen Titans and enjoy it; I just can't get past the facial expressions.)

I've always thought a GL corp. cartoon would be great but hey I takes what I can get when it comes to DCAU shows

With the news from Comic Con Pannel of an episode next year of JLU featuring the Legion of Superheros, do you think WB changed thier mind and asked BT and crew to produce the new Legion show???

From http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/rage/index1.htm (http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/rage/index1.htm)

However, the truly BIG news was not mentioned at the panel. The Legion of Superheroes appearance on JLU is no coincidence, and I've been told by reliable sources that a Legion of Superheroes animated series is set to go into production immediately after the completion of JLU. And most of JLU’s creative team will be moving over to the new LoSH series, with one major exception… Bruce Timm. The new LoSH series is being spearheaded by Sam Register, the Vice President of Cartoon Network. Rumor has it that Register feels Timm’s work is "tired and dated" and that the new LoSH series will be done in more of a Teen Titans style of animation rather than the classic Timm style.

Additionally, there’s talk that Register will not renew Timm’s contract when it expires next year. Why? Well, from what I’ve heard Register is more concerned with creating his own legacy of shows… that he wants to be regarded in the same way as William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The fact that most of you have no idea who he is should tell you how successful that’s been.

That's just too bad, Timm's style isn't outdated, it just isn't mainstream and that's what makes it standout from TT and TB. I am familiar with Register, and it seems like he is concerned with having only pop shows on CN which is a little disappointing. There needs to be variety.

That story is false by the way.

Yes, I read McDuffie's statement later on in the day and forgot to edit my post. But hopefully that spoiler about the LSH episode isn't...

That I know, the site also said 'the fact is the new LSH series won't be in continuity with Timm's seires because someone from the JLU will stay with the LSH and this character isn't showing up on the LSH series, instead a Silver Age DC hero will. '.
