Have they put The Dover Boys on a set yet? I don't have Vol. 2 and that's one of my favorites.

What cartoons would garner the "not suitable for children" warning? Or is it just about the violence?

Probably because he's more adult LT shorts in the 30's than the 50's. I know that the degre's violence changed each decades

I'm interested in seeing the shorts by Jack King and Ben Hardaway/Carl Dalton. Those are the only directors I'm not familiar with. Good to see more Tashlin and McKimison, too.

Excellent news, it made my whole day. I'm most looking forward to Hillbilly Hare, Wackiki Rabbit, Birds Anonymous, and Robin Hood Daffy.

That's a good list. It will be great to see all those 30s Porky cartoons. I also liked that they included one with Speedy. I might be able to sell some of my old LT videos once I get this DVD, since a lot of those cartoons are already on it.

The disclaimer and cover art makes it seem like "Looney Tunes NIGHTS" or something. :D

But yes, this will probably be one of the few DVDs I import from the States this year.

I just picked this set up a couple of weeks ago, and boy was I surprised to find a favorite Looney Tunes cartoon on here: Daffy Duck and the Dinosaurs. Although I really wish they had included an audio commentary with this episode.

But still it was fun listening to the audio commentary on The Wabbit Who Came To Supper with Jerry Beck adn Martha Siegel. I found it really funny when Jerry Beck mentioned how the producers of the cartoon couldn't come up with a joke for the Elmer Fudd's basement, so they just had Bugs Bunny run down the stairs and then run right back up and say that it was dark down there. :bugs1::daffy:

Of course, my one major beef with this set is that the cartoons are not presented in chronological order. This is my first Golden Collection, and I must say that when I compare this to the only other cartoon collection series that I can think of (the Walt Disney Treasures line), I prefer the way that Disney issued their collections with the cartoons in chronological order on the discs (sure they may've been out of order on two sets, because certain cartoons were held back for later release because they contained questionable material) over Warner's release where it seems that one disc is suppose to be all Bugs Bunny cartoons and the others are other Warner stars, and then the cartoons are just sort of "thrown" on the disc in no particular order (they aren't even in alphabetical order).

But otherwise this is a great collection. And someday it would be nice to see the banned 11 released on DVD in a similar fashion to how the Disney studio issued their cartoons that are problematic in today's society. Or, here's an idea, instead of releasing the cartoons in a children's release, maybe Warner Brothers should try and get those cartoons rated as 'R' or '18 and above'.

But Golden Collection Volume 3 is a great set, and when I compare it to other public domain DVD's of some of the episodes (such as Daffy Duck and the Dinosaurs and The Wabbit That Came To Supper), you can really tell just how much restoration work went into these cartoons, since for years I had been watching Daffy Duck and the Dinosaurs from a public domain DVD, and I kept wondering if the PD print had been in a place with a lot of smokers and the nicotine had settled on the print which had caused the print to fade and look extremely yellow from the smoke. So, when I saw the print of Dinosaurs on Golden Collection Vol. 3, I nearly jumped out of my skin when I saw how bright the colors were. WOW!

My only complaint with vol. 3 is having to skip by Whoopie Goldberg every time I start up the disc. I preferred the textual screen from vol. 4-6.

Otherwise, yeah, vol. 3 is probably my favorite Golden Collection. It has a good mix of all eras, and contains many of my favorites. The main menus are also the classiest.

Of course, it would've been nice to have had the Bugs Bunny Show in it's complete form, instead of having the intro's that were done in the 50's, and whatever cartoons were in that show, spread out over all the discs.
