Clip intros bother me. I love BTAS, BB and JL's intro. The JLU song used to bother me, but it's grown on me, but clips still bother me :/.

Bring back the spoilers, they were unique and went with the music!

Why do they bother you?

I think that if they have the budget and time, they could make stock footage of various heroes to insert for specific episodes that these heroes show up in. It urks me to see Orion (or even Red Tornado) in the opening of an episode that they're not even seen in.

I love the music to JLU. I miss the clips that "For the man who has everything" used to show -- a glimpse of the ep. But now its just the same crap over and over again, and that gets a little annoying.

What do you think we can do about it (besides talking)?

The intro is fine but definately could get some improvements. iI love the still pictures on it but totally hate the inserted clips. Music is v good as well. So far the best intro Ive seen is the one on Batman Beyond. Now, thats what Id call an intro!

Yeah, that "Each of you brings something different to the table..." could easily be upgraded to a 30 second intro, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't upgrade with the Naruto revision of September (if the show's still on the block).

While the actual intro could be better put together, I'm glad they've at least gotten a stock intro... now, it could be a better stock intro...

Personally I think the best intros are the ones that don't use any clips. BTAS was great, BB great as well. Never really cared for Superman's but then I'm not a big Superman fan. I still like the orginal JL over the JLU one, and while the JLU has gone on me I just think that its lacking the broad scope that it should have. Unfortunaly I have no idea how to fix it, and frankly as long as they focus on whats really important (episode and character quality) they could have a group of us fans in tights doing a rockettes number while singing Its Justice League time for Justice League and I wouldn't really care about the openner.

Though if they had that openner and people still watched it then the show should really rake in the awards.

I actually like the new theme song to JLU. The original JL was all right, but it didn't really jump out at you. It also didn't help that the show never did any real variations of it during its run (ironically, JLU had a variation of the original theme in "The Once and Future Thing"). A great example of using the JLU theme in series was at the end of "Panic in the Sky," where we pan from a shot of Lex and into a "grand" shot of the Original Seven as Flash says, "ta-da."

However, I agree, that the visuals for the intro should be improved. I'd love to see a "Batman Beyond" style intro for JLU. I'd like to see original action shots of the various heroes appearing on the show. Maybe start off with glimpses of the original seven in action, then blow up into different shots of Green Arrow, Black Canary, Huntress, Hawk & Dove, etc...

I like the concluding shot of the silhouette of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman, but it doesn't really make sense in the context of the show. Yes, they are the Big Three, but they've never really been potrayed that way. I think it should conclude with a silhouette of the Original Seven, while having the various heroes fly up around them (or behind them)...

just my two cents, tho... :)

I like the opening they use now better than the episode specific ones, especially when so many of the first season episodes used Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman all the time. I mean, even though it's supposed to be Justice League UNLIMITED, They still only showed those four in the clips most of the time. I like the new intro better because the clips show more of the heroes. So, regardless of who is showcased in the episode you understand that there's a lot of heroes in the show and not just Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern.

When you see "Divided we Fall," you'll be changing that statement. In a good way, but just saying...

Biggest reason for clip intros is that there isn't enough time to make an original intro. Usually happens on shows that have to make 30+ episodes a year. I mean, I could make a clip intro in an hour on my computer or an anime clip music video in a day. But to fully animate a new one-minute sequence would take weeks.

Never really saw a problem with the JL intro. Thought it made its point.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a new intro for the new season. But I really like the theme music from the past two seasons so if they decided to make a new opening theme and don't keep the old theme then the new theme would have to surpass the old one.

Well, I definately think that the way things are gonna change for the next season, there'd kind of have to be a new intro.

I'm in favor of another song being used in the intro, but more of an orchestral variation on the JL and JLU themes. While I DO like the current tune, it does sound slightly too rocky at times, especially when the episode after it is trying to touch on some serious stuff.

As far as the animation is concerned, there really isn't any way for them to make sure all the heroes get some limelight, so by choosing only the main dozen or so to appear in the intro, it's expected that sometimes none of the characters featured in the episode will appear in the opening credits. All this to say, I think the clips are fine as they are, but I'm looking forward to seeing them change next season to include shots of characters who will be featured in the upcoming episodes. Simply put, give us the quick flashes of the main players, but use new shots of the newer guys and gals you want us to look forward to seeing.

Of course, if if all stayed the same, I wouldn't mind. If they did amalgamate the two JL themes and animated an entirely new intro sequence that would be awesome too...but that would cost a lot of money that could instead be used to make the episodes themselves better.

They should keep the music - let's face it, it's cool. But change the visuals. Get rid of the clips and the still shots of the Founding Seven. The juxtaposition between the two is jarring and I've always felt it looks a little cheap. Instead, they should create a piece of original animation that shows most of the Leaguers in quick fly-by shots, doing something heroic like fighting Darkseid and his minions, maybe placing special emphasis on the Founding Seven. I'm thinking of something like the original opening titles to the old G.I. Joe series, or the type of openings they use for anime shows, where the title sequences tend to be very dynamic and eye-catching.

I'd definitely like to see a new intro. And no, NO spoiler clips please. I like to go into an episode without having seen any scenes from it. Loglines are fine, but clips tend to spoil scenes that play better when seen fresh.
A new theme would be nice too--everyone I've ever played JLU for has thought the theme cheesy/trashy, though one eventually grows fond of it.

And I agree that an orginal piece of animation works far better as an intro than a bunch of clips. One of the best things about the old X-Men cartoon was the end shot of the massed X-Men and the evil mutants charging each other from opposite sides of the screen to the sound of tolling bells, and JLU could do with a knockout intro shot like that.

Or perhaps they could do homage to Kevin Maguire's Justice League classic JL cover (see http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/comics101/images/2005/apr6/justiceleague.jpg), and end on an overhead shot of the basic seven, and recently spotlighted members, looking upward at the camera like hotshots. Then the camera could pan back to reveal more members standing alongside them, until the entire league is in frame, and we fade out on the world's greatest fighting force, standing proud and staring down the viewer.

Plus the newbies?

EDIT: And is it just me, or is Wonderwoman missing 3/4s of her left leg in that shot? And now that I look at it, it seems John Stewart lost everying below his left elbow as well...

Basically yeah. Tight shot on the basic seven, gradually widening to first reveal the spotlighted members and then everyone else in one awe-inspiring vista. Something similar was done in the last shot of Dark Heart, but not as dramatically or tightly composed as such a shot could be. I think it's an appropriate way to end a new intro.

An intro that took itself seriously.Unlike this one which just...meh. It falls flat because the show is so much more mature in tone,so unlike the one the high tunes in this intro sets.

"I doubt any of the others can get here any faster..."

"Then the seven of us will have to be enough."

I don't think it's THAT spoilerish, but... y'never know. :)

I never felt the intro clips spoiled the episodes but their disappearance must mean everyone else disliked them :( a real animated intro wouldn't be so great because there is to many characters to try and fit in and the look of the current one is cool if you want a series to get a new intro how about JL?

I love the opening music; it's dramatic and really fits the series. It captures the badarseness of the series perfectly. Especially the stillshots of the Big Seven.

I'm not a big fan of the opening, especially the music. It's not catchy or very interesting for that matter. With the old JL music or Batman music or Superman music, my kids used to sing along with it; "Bom bom bom...".

This guitar-heavy syrupy opening nevr fails to make me cringe, and the kids now impatiently wait for the commercials following the opening to start:evil:.

I would much rather hear the old JL opening, or better yet, hire The Edge to write one (He wrote the opening for The Batman. Pretty darn cool).

As far as the clips go, they do add a certain level of choppiness to the opening, but it's vastly better than the spoiler-laden openings of the early episodes. Hey, how about a Gilligan's Island-type opening? Show a few seconds of how they came to be, then spotlight the main characters, and use the "and the rest" line from the old Gilligan theme (before they used the lyric "The Movie Star, The Professor and Mary Ann" they used "The Movie Star and the rest."...a little TV trivia for you at no extra cost!) and pan out (or down or flip through photos rapid fire) to the rest of the league. And make the tune something catchy!!!!

The same is true of the Justice League Unlimited opening. The final shot with Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman looking to the right as dozens of league members fly in the background is equally majestic and breathtaking as the last shot of the Justice League into.

I'd at least like to see new inserted clips of non-big-seven members. If they could, they should get the studio that made the founding member graphics and make similar ones for as many newbies as possible. Green Arrow, Black Canary, Question, Supergirl, Cap Atom, The Atom, Vigilante, Captain Marvel (if he comes back), Aquaman, Huntress, Dr. Fate, Vixen, Zatanna, and anybody else that will fit the 1:00 slot. Better yet, make group portraits or freeze the characters in action shots. Flash's and WW's pictures are good examples of that idea.

But KEEP THE SONG. That addicting theme has gotten stuck in my head more than the Titans opening. It's grown on me like an evil mold. Burrowing into my brain. Looping, incessantly looping...forever...
