You are the head writer for Smallville and the producers want you to create a story using Bruce Wayne. How would you do it?
-Is he older than Clark (ie-Lex's age) or the same?
-His parents have already been killed.

Bruce still in training for his plan to become the ultimate detective comes to Smallville with his current mentor, a bounty hunter. They are tracking a "dangerous fugitive." (Insert kryptonite altered being here.)
The fugitive is a former resident of Smallville, who was actually framed. The actual criminal is a person who has, over the last several episodes, become something of a father figure/mentor to Lex.
The fugitive somehow convinces Clark that he/she isn't the real criminal. Clark in tries to convince the bounty hunter. The bounty hunter agrees that something seems to be amiss, but he's there to bring back the fugitive, and ends up arresting the fugitive.
Bruce is uncomfortable with arresting somebody that even his mentor agrees could possibly be innocent, and does some digging of his own. Make connections complex, but logical to showcase Bruce's deductive reasoning.
Bruce ends up getting the real criminal arrested.
A good writer will use the time to contrast:
Clark (who has a good relationship with his loving parents) with Bruce (who loved his parents, but they aren't around to guide him anymore) and Lex (who is still in a dysfunctional relationship with his father)
The relationship that Bruce and Lex have with their mentors
How Lex and Bruce view their wealth.
How Clark and Bruce view justice.
