You all know the drill. Last time was the beginning of Rogue Town, today is the continuation of Rogue Town. For you manga readers, most of Rogue Town was anime filler so don't be confused if you don't know what's going on.
And refrain for the 4kids hate, as usual. It's been quite civil lately so I may not even have to put this anymore. We'll see.

So, this week is 49 and next week is 51. Are they just skipping 50 or is it going to be a merger?
Part of 49 was aired last week, so it'll be 49 and 50 no doubt.

Apparently 4kids mis-interpreted the lyrics to a female british pop band's song...
They must think the lyrics were
"splice up your life"
You'd think they'd at least have the decency not to skip episodes but no.... they do it for no good reason.
I look forward to seeing how they handle Zoro picking up the new swords. They already mentioned that it's cursed.

"Wado" sounds so stupid, is it really that hard to say "Wada Ichimonji"? And claiming that its one of the 21 strongest swords in the world is dumb. Its one of the 21 Waza Ou, which makes it a named blade, but its not one of the strongest swords in the world or anything.
And Tashigi's voice actress can't act worth anything. It sounds like she's just reading the lines. God, 4Kids, at least pretend like you're getting people who care.
Ah, so the Sandai Kitetsu is "the master sword". I see exactly how they go that from Third Generation Demon Cutter.

4kids might as well skip all the filler while they're at it. It really seems like they're trying to rush through the series for some reason.

I'm not even joking, that seems completely possible at this point.
In 3 episodes we've bascially gone through almost 10 episodes of the Japanese version.

What tangible benefit is there to skipping half the series?
I mean, they didn't skip through the slow parts, Buggy and Kuro. That would have been sensible, skipping through the less-vital parts of the series, to get to the parts that have some real action, namely, Arlong and further.
But instead, they keep most of the first few arcs, and then skip through the rest?
What are they skipping to? Where are they going?
This dosen't make any sense, even for 4Kids...

Its the filler crap with the dragons and the annoying girl Apis, and Eric the Kamaitachi. It comes next after Loguetown.
I swear that 4Kids addedd in scenes from 52 at the end, and then proceded to show more parts of 51 in the preview, but maybe I'm losing it.

Since I havent been able to stomach getting up early enough to watch the travesty being committed. What eps did they skip over? I took a chance on watching today, saw what they did with Smoker and had to flip away.

Well, I haven't been watching One Piece on 4KidsTV(it's hard for a 16 year old to wake up on a Saturday morning to watch cartoons), but looks like that's a good thing. Wow, not even DBZ Seasons 1 and 2 or even Cardcaptors had it this bad.

Probably because the general plot of One Piece is still there they've just tweaked it so much that it really gets annoying. Where as CCS had some major tweaking to make Lee the main character. But on the bright side... CCS managed to get a fair subtitled release from Geneon and not all that long after the series started airing. One Piece may never get that luxuary at this point.

I'm beginning to think that 4Kids has a goal to show the entire series in 2 years time. That's when their contract with Fox runs out, and as far as I'm aware, they haven't renewed it yet, so they have to get through their precious aquisition. Of course, it's king of backfiring because it's such a horrible dub, but they don't seem to care because they are still getting sells from various One Piece merchandise (One Piece video games and profits from it being on Toonami come to mind).

Isn't the OP manga still ongoing? Indeed, isn't it still far from ending?
Even so, isn't the anime itself at least two years from ending?
They can't air all the episodes, because many won't exist when they get there!

The video games are not even out yet. So no profits are comming in from that flag ship. Without advertizement about the game, One Piece won't set sail in the market. It's doubtful the Shamen King and Rave Master (I know Tokyopop) games are doing great since there is almost 0 advertizement besides a magazine add. Not to mention the first released game of One Piece will be a hacked up version of Grand Battle 1 which is a turn off for me. :shrug:

I see a lot of magazine adds for Rave and Shaman King games but nothing on TV thus far I believe.
The only hope for One Piece surviving is Toonami I guess. Eventually it could be it's only home. Hopfully they wont cut whole episodes by then but I doubt it.

What a sickening thought...
But as for running through the series at breakneck speed, 4Kids is just shooting themselves in the foot. They're running OP into the ground, it'll probably be cancelled before they have a chance to show all the episodes. It's probably not doing as well as they'd hoped (big suprise), so they just want to get it over with. Then it'll just fester in the 4Kids vault until their rights expire.

But One Piece Grand Battle 1 is a PSOne game. There was a Grand Battle 2, also for the PSOne (which covers up until the Alabasta Arc), and a Grand Battle 3 for the PS2 (and released on the GameCube as simply "Grand Battle") that adds Skypeia characters into the mix.
