There's the new trailer for the new Robotech series

I just want to know if they plan on releasing a mass produced US toyline...what they have currently available for Robotech and Macross are just really expensive...

I love the laughter when Harmony Gold appears although there should have been booing :p

This thing strikes me as the equivalent of vaporware. Harmony Gold keeps talking it up, but I'll believe it when its actually finished.

"harmony gold presents the long-awaited continuation of the greatest anime saga of a generation..."

This actually looks very good, and if anything it raises my interest. I for one hope they finish this.

I didn't watch the clip because that link tried to unleash some sort of spyware, but is this that same crappy CGI series again, or a brand new project?

Although some of the animation(like the space cruisers) did look CGI-ish to me.

This is going to be set after the Invid saga part of Robotech from what I've read.

Desslar, it's a new project that they've been doing for a while now. There are animatics for the show as well as interviews on www.shadowchroniclesnews.com (http://www.shadowchroniclesnews.com)

Desslar, here's another site that also has the trailer: http://www.robotechshadowforce.com/

As for the laughter, what happened was that prior to the showing of the trailer Tommy announced that he had just made the trailer literally the night before (as to show just how recent they got it in), and due to being exhausted made a typo. Because of this, they said whoever caught the typo and answered it got a Sentinels animation cel. The laughter in the middle is where the typo is.

Also, about the flickering. The stuff shown to us was on plasma televisions, and they didn't seem to tape very well on regular camcorders.

This thing strikes me as the equivalent of vaporware. Harmony Gold keeps talking it up, but I'll believe it when its actually finished.
Actually, this is more proof of its existance, which we've been teased at forever. We've gotten some animatics and character pictures here and there(causing some to say they'll believe its not vaporware when they see animation) but this is the first time actual colored and near/final animation has been shown.

As for toys, both Alan Letz and Tommy Yune mentioned it'll be awhile, as there is no partnership such as with Matchbox toys like they did with the Sentinels. The closest thing right now is the Beta Fighter prototype which was revealed at the Toynami booth at AX. It's not due out 'til next year, so probably something extra from the Shadow Chronicles will be included, as it will be released some time after SC is.

I love the laughter when Harmony Gold appears although there should have been booing images/smilies/tongue.gif
I'll tell ya this, man. That panel was freakin' packed with Robotech fans.

The CGI thing was supposed to be set in the year 2900 or something wasn't it? The year was 3000, as was the title, Robotech: 3000.

Some pics from the trailer.

If we all agree to buy Shadow Chronicles DVD's, will Harmony Gold let ADV make that Macross dub? Even better, will they let ADV do a good dub of Do You Remember Love?

Find Rick Hunter

Hmm, I don't know about that one. Rick's gotta be an old geezer by now, and none of the current cast will know him so there's no real emotional connection.

Maybe someone will clone a new Zentraedi army or something. Will the idol singer do hip-hop this time?

besides IIRC Scoot flew off at the end of New Generation to search for Rick Hunter

will they let ADV do a good dub of Do You Remember Love? Sure, if HG ever manages to buy the rights to the DYRL? movie itself and not just the merchandise. The last I heard they still don't even know who currently has the movie rights here in the states.

I couldn't get the link to work, but I don't like the idea of making a continuation of a hacked up dub when they refuse to let the ACTUAL continuations of Macross be released.

Was this ever mentioned on the show? I don't rememember that.

Scott doesn't actually know Rick does he? Scott grew up on Mars and Rick was off exploring the galaxy or something as I recall.

Actually because of the space-folds that Rick, Lisa, Max, Miriya and others went through on the whole Sentinels mission they didn't age too much because of the time-difference in doing such long-jumps the time on Earth advanced much quicker than it did for them during the jump.

In the sentinel novels you actually have
Dana Sterling show up with her squad and all at the end of the series of Sentinel novels and Max and Miriya are surprised because only a few years have passed for them while she's all grown up.

Scott doesn't actually know Rick does he? Scott grew up on Mars and Rick was off exploring the galaxy or something as I recall. Dialogue from those episodes was that SDF - 3 never rematerialized from it's fold jump. Scott at the end mentioned that someone had to find Admiral Hunter.

From what we know of the show, it's supposedly to begin with the Battle of Reflex Point, mostly in the POV of the Expeditionary Force.

The pic here from the trailer shows the Regess transmuting into the Pheonix

Rick Hunter will in some form be in this series, as Tony Oliver, who voiced Rick 20 years ago was confirmed as Admiral Rick Hunter at the panel.

From the looks of it and from the pamphlet the words given are, "They thought the war was finally over.... but humankind's greatest battle for survival has just begun." So from that, we're also about to get a new enemy.

Another partial look at the new uniforms (or ship uniforms, as some are saying).

Flybynite, I'm not sure how much of the Sentinels is being used, as what's currently considered canon by HG is the 85 episodes and the new comics that have come out in the past few years. A lot of the Sentinels has gone in different directions (novels, comics, and RPGs), and HG seems to be picking what worked best from those to include as canon. But what that is is something we're going to have to wait on and see.

It should be noted that some anime characters just don't seem to age that much, such as Max and Milia Jenius from Macross 7. Both are in their 50s but they don't look it at all.

anyway I found one of my sentinel novels they have little timelines in the back.

2035(earth actual):
The SDF-3 fails to appear in Earthspace. Rick turns 40 (or 45 in actual chronological years); Lisa turns 45 (or 50).

Aboard the Ark Angel, which has been spared the fate of the rest of the mainfleet ships, Scott Bernard and Vince and Jean Grant commence a search for the missing fortress.

Yeah, but HG isn't using that. One of the problems this caused was a big debate of Early Return vs Late Return, early being the REF came back in the 2030's, with of course Late Return being the 2040s. HG weighed both and found Late Return to suit better. As such, the REF Saturn Division assault on Reflex Point was in 2044 (Mars Group seemed to be broken up in sections of a few years, as Lance 'Lancer' Belmont of the 10th Group arrived in 2038, with Scott and 21st and others in 2042).

Arggh, are they dragging in continuity from the novels and Sentinels? I haven't paid attention to any of that stuff. Well, I had some Sentinels comics but haven't read them in forever.

I was hoping they'd go directly from the end of New Generation.

They are, as this is where it takes off. At the panel at AX, Tommy menitoned that fans have been waiting forever for episode 86, and this is it. However, it will have elements from all three series, but at the moment it looks like the Mospeada elements will be the dominate.

Are you sure Kaine? Kevin McKeever of Harmony Gold on his blog (http://www.bankofkev.blog-city.com/) mentioned the panel but he nor the site have said anything about premiering it.

Still, it'd be nice to go as Mari Iijima is a guest as well.
