I just wanted to put in my opinion about the post below on this show. I saw that Entertainment Tonight Coverage that everybody else probably saw.

As soon as I heard the actor portraying Superman/Clark Kent say "We didn't even do any research for the show" I knew right then the show would suck.

I had a feeling this show would suck WAY BEFORE THIS though. I knew once I heard the title of the show.

"SMALLVILLE"

Hmmmmm............what the hell does that remind you of? Dawson's Creek perhaps? Why did they name it after the location?

What in bloody hell DOES ANYTHING WITH SUPERMAN HAVE TO DO WITH SMALLVILLE? It's just where he grew up. Sure, lots of junk probably happened there, but why not name the show "Young Clark Kent" or how about just "Clark Kent" (much like the doomed "Bruce Wayne" show that all us fans thought we might get, but didn't in the end). If Bruce Wayne grew up for a short time outside of Gotham would we name a show after that tiny place? No! Not unless the show was going to have NOTHING to do with Bruce Wayne/Batman which I feel Smallville will be like in regards to Superman.

The Bruce Wayne show sounded AWESOME. It was pre "Year One" stuff but at least the writers of that show sounded like they were building UP TO YEAR ONE stuff. Smallville sounds like it's going nowhere with the Superman mythos.

I had a feeling with the title of the show the show would actually be NOTHING like Superman at all, but more about "Smallville", which in turns mean YES the show will be like Dawson's Creek only ONE of the characters can fly. So picture Dawson's Creek with Pacey being able to fly to ihs girlfriend's house and use X-ray vision in the girl's locker room.

I will watch the first episode and if I'm not taken in I will never watch another episode again.

I have a feeling this show will DEPEND DEPEND DEPEND on the fans. The people who like Superman will make or break this show.

Once the superman fans see this show has NOTHING to do with Superman at all, but more about Clark Kent going through puberty and wanting a date for the prom, the show will flop on its face.

Who else would watch a show about Superman besides Superman fans? It seems like a bad strategy for a tv show. The people making this show say "it's about Superman when he was a teenager". But when the fans ask "Will it be about Superman?" the people behind this show reply with "Superman? Who's Superman? We didn't even research Superman for this show".

Does this make sense? I think it does not.

I think this show will be cancelled.

Let's wait and see.

Believe it or not, Smallville is, and always wil be an important part to Superman's life. Need proof? Read SUPERMAN: FOR ALL SEASONS, and note his several trips back to Smallville to visit the town and his folks.

I just have a question about Smallville (NOT the TV series) and when Clark Kent became Superman. Isn't the Superboy idea a more modern revision to the Superman mythos? I understand that when Superman was originally created, Clark Kent never really used his powers much in Smallville. In fact, every re-telling of his origin has him discovering his powers rather late in his teens, then going on to Metropolis to become Superman. Why would he be Superboy in the TV series?

Well, it's been said that they didn't bother to research the part. They just saw: popular character, now teenager. Gets all the crappy teen drama demographics in. Sadly though, it may be at the cost of good ol' Supes:(

What is Bo Duke doing playing Jonathon Kent?? John Schnieder shouldn't be playing in some crappy show.

And I am only 15 and I think when I was like 5 I remember some Superboy show?? Can someone refresh my memory?

Ahh prejudice...

Why bother criticizing a show that's not even aired yet??

i also agree that the smallvile show will stink.
it looks too much like a typical wb-ish dawson's creek-ish show. and added that they didn't even do much research makes me not want to tune in
