Y' know, Duke.....you forgot to say that you might also enjoy the anime if you enjoyed the game. Star Ocean 2 wasn't phenomenally popular in America, so actually seeing its characters animated is interesting. And it overall sticks to the game's plot, so it has that going for it too. Hey, for those reasons I liked it......
You said you weren't familiar with the games, so you might want to add this. Unless it's too late once you push the button.
This is the talkback thread for "Star Ocean EX": RPG Clichés in Anime Form! (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=4281).
I think my review was harsher than I wanted it to be. My review says that it deserves a D, but I actually think this volume warrants a C+.

I'm planning on picking up the first DVD of this series. Even if the anime stinks, it'll be fun to see the Star Ocean 2 characters and story animated. Though I really hate Rena's re-design (she looks WAY younger in the anime than she did in the game).
I'm curious about how all the characters will be used and who will end up hooking up (for those who don't know, Star Ocean 2 is famous because the endings and potential couplings are effected by the choices you make in the game).

I loved the game and watched a few fansubs of this. I personally though it was horrible, especially the action scenes.
