Weekend Box Office Update

Colin seems to be a little late, and I was going to comment on this week's b/o anyway, so I might as well post it outright. Well, I was right, Shrek gained on Pearl Harbor this week and came very close to passing it, they were just about 2 million away. Word is Shrek could very well surpass Toy Story 2 as the second most profitable animated film ever, Toy Story made $246 million, only behind the Lion King's $314 million. Pearl Harbor and Shrek shouldn't be seriously challenged until June 15'th when "Tomb Raider" and 'Atlantis" both open, by then Shrek could take back the no.1 spot for those two new films to battle over later. Oh, I almost forgot, here's the actual list.

1. "Pearl Harbor," $30 million.

2. "Shrek," $28.4 million.

3. "The Animal," $19.8 million.

4. "Moulin Rouge," $14.2 million.

5. "What's the Worst That Could Happen?," $13.3 million.

6. "The Mummy Returns," $7.5 million.

7. "A Knight's Tale," $3.4 million.

8. "Bridget Jones's Diary," $2.1 million.

9. "Angel Eyes," $1.8 million.

10. "Memento," $1.1 million.

Well gee... let me log on first why don'tcha? ;) ...hadn't had a chance to get on since just now, hence why I hadn't reported the weekend's box office.

Anyway, here's some views from me... First, I'm kinda surprised the Animal did as well as it did... I figured it would open around #5 at most... goes I under-estimated Rob's drawing power... And I am surprised Moulin Rouge only brought in $14.2 million... I would have thought it would have brought more in... Another surprise is "What's The Worst The could Happen"...I see this one dropping off the top ten very quickly...
