Well it's a little more than that.
Over the last 5 years, I was worried about Batman's Fighting credentials, with addition of so many new characters that are either allies or non-powered foes, who enter Batman's territory of physicality. Especially after Batman had just finished positioning himself atop the best human fighter list, in the DCU.

So including all potentials, from the show, and those extra from the comics, that never made it to tv, but are still very important, who would come out on top, as the winner, in a one on one brawl?

Now what I had read from a Batman editor in the letter column in response to a similar question dealt with Lady Shiva and Batman. HE said, out of 10 fights Shiva may win 6. Now this was before the New Batgirl was created. In a different letter, an editor responded that Nightwing was in the top 5 of all the Best Fighters in the DCU.

So Basically, tell me 2 things: What do you think the top 5 or 10 really is, and if different, What do you think the top 5 or 10 SHOULD be, based on all your knowledge and everything YOU witnessed from these heroes and some villains.
(Ofcourse only referring to Bat related Characters, from the Show and Book)

Based on what those Editors Said, I think THEIR top fighters List Looked Something Like this: (pre-new Batgirl)

1-Lady Shiva
2-Batman
3-Bane
4-Azreal
5-Nightwing
6-That Other Young Green arrow
7-Silver Monkey
8-Cain
9-Robin
10-King Snake

Now since the new Batgirl:
1-Lady Shiva
2-Batman
3-Batgirl
4-Azreal
5-Bane
6-Nightwing
7-Cain
I really can't tell from recent events where they would put robin.

MY List would look like this.
1-Batman
2-Lady Shiva
3-Nightwing
4-Bane
5-Batgirl
6-Azreal
7-Cain

I would hope that with all ***** years of experience, he would be able to whoop, the whole middle section of Bane, Batgirl and Azreal. But I've seen Dick do great things, and some really dumb mistakes. Batgirl unfortunatly, they make her too powerfull looking in her book, which makes you ask, hmm, can Batman do this? And sometimes I hate having that feeling. I think we will see some results in a couple of months, because Batgirl is scheduled to fight Lady Shiva. First off, I hope Batgirl Loses, But I also hope Batman intevenes, and beats Shiva. Fat chance huh? Azreal while his character seems to be Fading away, DID defeat Bane. But in the same vein, Batman defeated his whole Rogues gallery in a couple of Nights, while having the flu, and then still tried to Stand up to Bane. That's pretty tuff.

What do you think?

I've read the Batgirl series from issue 1- she's really tough, it'd be hard for Nightwing to keep up with her, I mean, look at what she does to Batman when they're just practicing.....

Wow, even in animated form, you dont think Nightwing can defeat Catwoman. Nightwing needs to step up his game.

Lets not Forget, Kyodai, from TAS.

As far as Fighting goes, I've always seen the joker as an Oddball, while he does'nt really posses any real skill, his maddness makes him reflexively/physically act out his crazyness. I was sooo shocked in "BB:RTOJ" when Joker Almost KILLED
Batman. And Physically at that to. He just baskslapped Bruce. I was seriously unsatisfied with that part. And Bruce practically knocked out. Talk about an Overkill.

If we're going by the comics then I'd definately say

Batman
Lady Shiva
Nightwing or Batgirl
Bane

Batman is definately the best in his league, that doesnt mean he's infallible but overall I think he's more resourceful than Lady Shiva and that overpowers the fact that she might be willing to kill him while he wouldnt be willing to go that far.

To me it's a toss up between Nightwing and Batgirl. I know that Batgirl is a hard core fighting machine and that her entire existance was devoted to that when she was raised but when you look at everything that Dick Grayson has gone through and all the experience he has under his belt I think it would be up for grabs with the two of them.

If we want to stay in the Animated Universe then I would say

Batman
The Ninja
Nightwing
Bane
then it gets blurry... maybe catwom would be 5...

The Ninja was probably Batman's greatest match in martail arts in the show it was always a close call between them. I we were to say Dick as Robin then no Bane would beat him, but from BTAS to TNBA he's become more skilled and I think he's be ready to take on Bane and win.
Normally for me the Joker is right on par with batman but in this kind of comparison I really dont think he fits. Joker isnt exactly a fair fighter and he doesnt really go for martial arts or any style of fighting for that matter. He's all about his gimmicks and without those he'd be lower. But he's smart enough to always have a gimmick which is why he's batman's greatest foe.

Your right. Your all right behind your reasonings.

lasportsbiggir: Lady Shiva is this character(great one I think) from the comic books, who's still an active player in the world of Batman. She's basically a great Female Fighter. But her thing is, she has NO respect for life, and the utmost respect for her skills. She really is that good. The thing with her and Batman is, She respects his skills, but instead of being a crinimal neusnace to him, she's more interested in making him do what he'll never do, and that's take a life in cold blood, based off of his skills.

Criminal genious? Not really. Heavy hitter? Definitly. When Batman was Broken by Bane, He Basically regained his perfect combat skills and reflexes through Lady Shiva's insane training.(Great story). Lady shiva also helped trained Tim, and Also helped regain the new Batgirl's special Gift of reading her opponents.

Batgirl issues 5-9 or 10 cover Batgirl's loss then gain of her fighting abilities. You can get them seperately, but the two TPB's would be your best bet...

He originally stabbed Batman in the chest with a knife, but because WB forced them to edit the movie, they removed the knife and the cuts and the blood, causing it to look like he backhanded him.

Personally, I thought they should've reanimated it to have Joker use his joybuzzer to give Bats a shock, knocking him off the boxes and to the floor. It would've fit given that Mr. J used electricity to torture Tim Drake, and was defeated by Terry with the joybuzzer later on in the movie.

Just my opinion though.

You all probably have seen it or heard about it, but if you go frame by frame at the scene where Batman "falls" off the blocks (in the editted version), you'll see the knife pop out of Joker's sleve ever so briefly and then see it as Batman falls back...

OH REALLY? (regarding rotj) That explains alot. That explains why the Bat just did'nt get up and pound joker. And to the chest too? Ok then that makes a little more sense why Batman was down for so long. And also effected him mentally with what he did to Tim. Amongst all Bat villains, no one get's under the skin of Batman, more than Joker. Why? Because no one plans as Extensivly as Batman OR Joker. Their Both experts at it. That's why they are the Perfect Rivals. Even Better than Bane. Because at least Bane has great intellect. Where as Joker you dont know how sane or Insane he is. And THAT's the opposite of Batman. You know Batman is very sane, and very precise.

I dont know though, I think Batman, would justify just taking the Joker out. I mean, he's done so many horrible things.

Also in last Laugh, did Nightwing kill the joker?

The Mad Hatter

Technically, he did. Nightwing beat Joker to a pulp, and the Joker's heart stopped. But some git revived him. Cheap, cheap gimmick...
