View Full Version : Planet of the Taz
Anyone else watch it at looneytunes.com? Any thoughts on it?

Eh, it wasn't that good, but it had a funny line in it:
Daffy: "If they ever give Emmys for this web stuff, I'm a shoo-in!"

It wasn't that great. The only good line (as Thad mentioned) is Daffy's "If they ever give Emmys for this web stuff, I'm a shoo-in!"
The rest of it isn't that great. I wish they could make these longer than just 1-2 minutes, they had the entire recent "Planet of the Apes" diaster at their feet. And the voices and music are both awful. They should reuse some of Carl Stalling's music and some of Mel Blanc's lines from original Looney Tunes if they can't find good voices or music.

I didn't like it either, and I'm tired of the parodies. What ever happened to original stories?
To me, the acting of the characters just isn't convincing. I don't feel like I'm actually watching the characters when I see these cartoons. It's like those new cable commercials with the Looney Tune characters. The timing, look, naunces, and general feel of the cartoons just aren't there.

I';ve enjoyed some of the new webtoons, but "Planet of the Taz" sucks. I hope they don't drag this along like they did 'Toon Marooned", I hate the "serial" stories. Whatever happened to telling a story with a character or couple of characters, and not using some current fad as a crutch?

Well, it looks like this'll be a serial series, but there's only one more. The newest toon, "Beneath the Planet of the Taz", was better than the first one. At least they don't give you the option to "interact" with the characters. The end line was funny, with some Tazs in white suits carrying out a guy (I forget what he's a parody of) screaming "SOYLENT GREENS IS PEOPLE TOO!!!!!"
Porky: "Huh, and t-t-t-they call me a h-h-h-ham."

Yes I agree Thad. It was better than the first one, but it still has lots of flaws. I was glad there was no "interaction" part of the toon. I didn't get the whole "idiot eyes" bit, though. I'm not sure who that guy was yelling "SOYLENT GREENS IS PEOPLE TOO!!!!!," but, I believe there was a movie titled "Soylent Green" made in 1973, directed by Richard Fleischer.

I haven't watched any of the new web cartoons since that Judge Granny with Sylvester and Tweety. I also recall watching that lame Matrix parody with Elmer Fudd. Guess I will have to see how many I have missed. By the sounds of it, I haven't missed much.

The screaming "Soylent Green is people too!" is a parody of Charleton Heston. The movie "Soylent Green" was a futuristic movie where the government takes care of everyone. They give them a wonder food called "Soylent Green". However, Soylent Green is make, of, err... people meat.
