There are lotions that have Aloe Vera Gel. They are made specificaly for sunbirns. You can get them in any pharmacy. (They are usualy green). But you should realy apply right after you get burned. It will still work though. It bight sting a bit but it helps in the long run.

Peel your outer layer of skin off, revealing the fresh new layer beneath. Repeat until sunburn is gone.

That will hurt on dry skin though, better listen to Solarflare and get Aloe Vera. Than It'll peel off itself.

As was said, Aloe Vera is the best, best thing. In fact you can buy literal bottles of Aloe and just rub it on your burn if you don't like lotion. (Don't put it anywhere else though because it'll dry out your skin.) You might also want to use a cold compress on your skin, dampen a towel and press it on your burn. Or, and this will sound both funny and/or disgusting, pour milk on the burn. I swear it really works.

A cool, but not cold, bath is also really nice. Or take a swim in a pool. And obviously, stay out of the sun, and if you can't make sure to have sunblock on your burned area.

~Nate~Don't worry I'm slowly working on a plan to block out the sun. In the meantime besides wha others have said, I suggest you go into a mall parking lot and peel your skin off while people watch in horror.

I use baking soda and water.

Make it into a paste, dab it on the burned area, sit there and wait until it dries then pad it off. It'll get rid of the heat.

You could probably take an Advil or something for the pain.

I like aloe for the burn, but it's been a long time since I've had a bad one.
you may want to ask a pharmacist what they have.

Oh, and I recommend drinking lots' of water. I have little to back this up, but dry damaged skin seems to call out for more hydration. At least that's my thinking.

Also besides Aloe Vera there's this spray sunburn relief thing called solarcaine, and it works SOOOOOO well! At least for me!

The glory of a sunburn. It actually isn't bad when you've just got it so bad that the skin comes straight off.

Last year, I had a spray sunblock. Didn't want to get it in my eyes, so I figured a hat would just cover my forehead.

Yeah, no. My forehead was coming off.

Solarcaine and some aloe lotions have lidocaine. they help,,, a little. My first trip to Oshkosh airshow, I didn't use sunblock until afternoon because it was rather cold in the morning. By evening, scraping all of my skin off would have felt better. Even my lips were burned, I was miserable for a week. Nothing helped.

I use that Aloe Gel. Very good as it cools down the skin, and helps it heal quicker. At least for me.

You can't actually "get rid" of sunburn. You have to let your skin heal from the sun damage.

There have been very good suggestions in this thread on how to do just that, such as using Aloe gels, taking a cool bath and such. As someone who has gotten her fair share of burns, try using Noxema. While it does stink quite a bit, it also goes on cool and lowers your skin temperature. Also, I have heard that bathing the area in Tea (brewed tea, cooled to room temperature with no sugar) can help reduce the sting. I've never tried it, so I don't know how well it works.

In order to prevent further burning, use a +30 sunblock liberally if your skin is as white as mine and wear light colored lose fitting clothing, preferably covering the burned areas.
