View Full Version : 4 Years on Toon Zone Forums

Emmanuel Cruz

I'd like to state that today (June 16) is my 4th year on the Toon Zone forums. I joined and was a regular at the Termite Terrace Trading Post, and after it left, I visited the many other boards here. I would like to say that these past four years have been great and this message board is indeed the best online. The people on these forums are great, and I hope I spend many more years here.

Ah, I wonder how that must feel. And to be able to be a frequent member that long is good. From what it seems, all the originals were cut in half inbetween whenever and now. Only on my way to two years.

So, in four years, how many people have asked if you're related to Brian Cruz?

Lucky for Emmanuel, his favorite forums live as long as he does, whereas whenever I start adopting to one, it either closes in less than two years or every other regular leaves and a Neverlandfull of n00bs show up and make me leave.

Not sure, but probably 5.:p

And for the record, no relation!

Most of the old members are gone, and some only post once a month now, but I've been on and off since 1999, before they updated the board with these newfangled features and got rid of the "tree" system of message display. My pattern is that I'll be here a lot for a few months, then go away for a few months. I'm also proud to say that I've seen the anime community grow here in leaps and bounds since I first came here. I was one of only about 4 anime fans here at the time, and the other 3 posted irregularly at best. The rest of the people were Warner Brothers fans and/or hung out at the Termite Terrace. As I recall, when I first came here, there were probably only less than 30-40 regular posters at the time. And only 10 people posted on a daily basis.

I've seen a lot of favourite members of mine grow on to new lives, get banned:p and moderators have come and gone.

Now these forums are so big, and the anime community is so big, and the funny thing is I've drifted a bit from much of the stuff today's anime fans watch.

I've been around, off and on, for about 3 and a 1/2 years. It's amazing considering how many posts I've made. I should try to become more active in this community.

Well, I'll be in my 4th year in October. I know I've left for long periods, be they a few days or a few months, but I always come back :)

Man I hear that. I remember that tree system. Remember when all of the anime, Disney, and Fox kids discussions could be found on a single board? I think I first stumbled on Worlds Finest in 1998 or so (brother read it) and I began posting I think in late 2000 or early 2001, can't remember which. But the community has exploded on pretty much all fronts. Ah well I'm only 19 I'm to you to feel this old. To tell you the truth though I miss some of the older members too Jojo. Mad Hatter (Gaming geek, and he actually wrote for a magazine,) Batboy 2001 (a good friend of mine who hasn't posted in years), Inque, and Calhoun07 (who I think may still post, but I'm not sure).

Oh and Emmanuel I am proud to be one of those five people. A while back ago when you announced that you had just become an uncle I thought you meant that Toonzone's Mommy and Daddy (Brian and Harley) had actually become parents. That would have been interesting.

I have been mostly a lurker for almost four years now, but I use to be a very active poster on the CNX board before it fell apart and was closed down and the members came here. I only post whenever I feel like it now.

I've been here a little over 3 years (3 years in Feb) and I'm so happy I'm still around. It's one of the only places I've found that I can actually talk coherently about my interests with others who share them. It's a nice feeling. I have no intention of leaving any time soon.

Congrats Emmanuel.

It's hard to believe sometimes that I've been here for 7 years. Well not literally HERE, because a long long time ago, Worlds Finest was it's own entity, before becoming affiliated with ToonZone. I think I joined at WorldsFinest in June sometime, but it's been so long I can't really remember for sure. I mean, I was like 12. So now I just count the years, January is what I go by.

I met him once. We attended a widescreen cartoon screening 3 years ago in the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.

Haha, yeah, I remember you sounded like a kid when you first came here. And back then I spent my time arguing with people all the time. Then I realized you were just weird (in a good way, of course ;) ) and I just gave up on wasting my breath arguing about things I didn't always know much about anyway.

Calhoun did post once this year, I think. I also remember my fellow Ontarian, Psycho Fox, who was the resident communist. I loved that guy. :p

Chris Sanders and John Crichton still post very rarely, but they were always the most popular and social guys here way back, so I'm not surprised if they're living some busy lives these days. However, I think we came here before those guys too.

Of course one of my fave posters was Dr. BELCH, the man who couldn't keep his politically incorrect tendencies shut, and of course got banned. Ahh, BELCH, I loved his TV reviews.

I guess I'm a bit like Elven Moon in my posting habits, who I believe spends some of her time on the Animeondvd boards too, like me. Although, I post in bigger bunches. I've got a lot of built-up nonsense to spew at times.

Chris is fine, he's just caught up in other things, I think. We're "livejournal buddies" so I get a glimpse into what he's doing these days.

And yep, I do post at the animeondvd boards! I post here more than there, though.

Hearing all of you guys talk about TZ of the past makes me feel like a little kid with my measly 1 year and six months. I still have to respect Emmanuel and his four-year tenure as a member in this fine forum community. I salute you.

Hah don't remind me. I did have some really silly posts back then. I use to pretend to be some all powerful overlord just for kicks. What was I thinking?
I remember you tended to agree with me about Releena and Hero at the end of Gundam Wing.

I think John Chrihton shows up in the Power Rangers threads whenever there's a new episode or something. And Chris Sanders I'm not so sure about. And yes Psychofox does slant pretty far left on alot of issues. :) Oh and who can forget Dr. BELCH? That guy was something else, him getting banned was really interesting.

Does Bud n' Lou still post here? I remember he use to have some insightful posts.

Nope Bud doesn't. I still talk to him on AIM but he lost interest in TZ.
