With Superman: The Animated Series returning to CartoonNetwork in January, fans ill be able to relive one of the most under appreciated animated series around. During the show's initial run on Kids'WB!, one of the most controversial episodes was the two part epic Apokolips...Now!. The episode centered around Darkseid's bid to overtake earth.

Bruce Timm reveals that the finale of Apokolips...Now! was supposed to end...a bit differently:

"Originally, at the end of the "Apokolips Now" episode of Superman, we wanted Darkseid to kill Ma and Pa Kent to spite Superman (in hindsight, a REALLY bad idea, for any number of reasons)...mike carlin told us, "SURE you can kill 'em off...as long as you eventually bring 'em back to life!" well, whomever we killed, we wanted 'em to STAY dead," said Timm. "So we had to look around for another sacrificial lamb...Lois? obviously not...Jimmy? too cruel, kids identify with him...Professor Hamilton? well, it'd be better if it was someone we actually LIKED...pretty soon we realized it HAD to be Turpin...which, of course, MADE that show...!"

Superman: The Animated Series will return to Cartoon Network on January 7th with "Last Son of Krypton Part 1".
