Yo, I thought it would be a good idea to do a daily or weekly event where I pick a video game series and we all vote for the best game from it. Please note that I will try to put in as many as I can think of, and if I forget any, please let me know. Thanks. And if there's too many games, then there won't be a poll. When a few days have passed. I will tally up the votes and determine which game is the best in each series.
OK let's start off with where it all began. Mario and his later introduced brother Luigi. OK let's go!
Basic series premise: The story of the series mostly revolves around the Super Mario Bros.: Mario and Luigi as they travel the Mushroom Kingdom and various other lands to rescue Princess Peach from the vile hands of the evil Bowser, who seeks to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom, but using their incredible jumping skills, Mario and Luigi prevail every time.

In any case, my favorite is the original Super Mario 64 followed closely by the original Super Mario Bros. The Mario RPG series is also one of my favorites as well.

Super Mario World will ALWAYS be the best. Take THAT super-overrated third installment!

All of the RPGs are great games: SMRPG, Paper Mario, M&L, and PM:TTYD. Yoshi's Island has a special place in my heart as well.

I can't really rate the NES games above each other, since I like them all, so I'll lump them together and say Super Mario All-Stars, tied with Super Mario World.
For 3D Mario games, Super Mario 64 is the best.

Super Mario Bros. 3 is hands down the best Mario game and one of the best games ever made period.

Mario 64 has to be one of the best Mario Games I played. There's just so much you can do, plus you're not limited by too many time constrants. I enjoyed it the most as well.
The orginal Mario Bros. Game, I still have fond memories of that game.

Good question, and I still can't answer. It's between Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World though.

Hmm....so many Mario games.
As far as old school 2D side-scrollers go, I'd pick Super Mario 3 as my favorite.
For 3D, I liked Mario 64.
I'd also like to make an honorable mention to the SNES Yoshi's Island. I thought that game was a blast to play. This was especially true when you got really good at it and could start doing all your moves in one fluid motion. There's nothing like hover jumping across a pit while simultaneously eating several baddies and ricochetting a few eggs off the floors and walls. :anime:

Well..........I had this class in a middle school I went to that had a Super Ninetendo. I tried Super Mario World on it and I really enjoyed it. Mainly because a kid named Kyle in my class got up and started doing a jig to this song from it:
http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/smwwd1.mid
So I would have to go with Super Mario World for SNES!

I had such great memories with Super Mario Bros. and all them games of his from the ol' 16 bit days, but I greatly love Yoshi's Island for the SNES more then anything else in the Mario genre. The graphics are so beautiful, unique, and colorful, what with it's watercolor crayon-ish kid's coloring book appeal, the levels are well designed and clever, the character designs are so durn cute, and the ending is simply one of the most amazing and beautiful ending I have ever seen.

Super Mario World.
The pinnacle of the 2D gameplay Mario, combined with a ridiculous amount of levels (compound in that you can make your own with the editor Lunar Levels), makes this one game I'll continue to replay over the years.

Super Mario All-Stars + World
A WINNER IS YOU!
Coincidentally... I own that wonderful Super Nintendo catridge. I like the version of SMW on it because Luigi's sprite is different than Mario's.
But as for single games...
It always comes down to Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. I really can't pick.

I wonder why they never attempted to make a video game based off the movie like Capcom did with Street Fighter. Then again that's a really good thing.

Well the winner is a tie between SMB3 and SMW, so to be fair I decided to decide this match with a coin flip... here we go.
The winner is Super Mario Bros. 3!

Congratulations to the winner! Now it's on to Zelda!

I'd have to say Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, followed by Yoshi's Island and Mario & Luigi.

Super Mario 3 was definitely the peak of the series. Super Mario World was good, but in no way was it as good as 3. I mean, they got rid of all the cool power ups like the hammer brothers suit and the frog suit and the tanooki suit. And they added Yoshi. That dinosaur is the worst Nintendo character ever made. Super Mario World 2 was awful, mainly because it focused on that retarded dinosaur. Plus, it had ugly graphics and sloppy controls. Super Mario 64 bored me within 5 minutes. So, yeah, Mario 3 was definitely the peak of the series, it's gone downhill ever since.

If we're going to pick where the series peaked it has to be Super Mario 64. Where the hell can you go once you've defined 3-D platforming? Supposbly Super Mario Sunshine but not everyone was happy with it.

I wish there were ten more platformers that looked like Yoshi's Island (SMW2). I think it has possibly the greatest sprite-based graphics ever.

I'm going to have to say its a tie between SMB3 and SMW with 64 and Sunshine not far behind. Mario games rule....

There is one game that no seems to either know about or even remember, maybe because it may have been the worst Mario series game but it was Luigi's first time to shine on his own. This game is so bad that Nintendo must have not remembered it either because they bill Luigi's Mansion as his first solo game not true. Where's Mario was Luigi first solo game where he had to save Mario but it was the worst game in a great series of games.

1. Super Mario Bros. 3
2. Mario RPG
3. Mario Kart Double Dash
4. Mario and Luigi SuperStar Saga
5. Mario 64 and Super Mario World are tied.

Super Mario Bros 3. Y'know, I actually remember when my family bought that. Good times, gooooood times.
Second would be Super Mario Kart. That game was insanely addictive. After that, Mario 64, just because you can fly. That was just...awesome. Not nearly as fun altogether as SMB3, but still awesome.

Actually, it was called "Mario is Missing" and it was awful because the enemies couldn't hurt you. You could just walk right by Koopa Troopas, you could jump on them if you wanted to kill them, but they couldn't hurt you. It was retarded. I heard eventually you fight the Koopa Kids as bosses, but they too take one hit and can't hurt you.
Super Mario RPG remains my absolute favorite, followed by Super Mario Kart, then either SMW or SMB3. I still wish SquareEnix and Nintendo would join up to make a true sequel to Super Mario RPG, with the characters that were in the first. Come on, you don't get more badass than Geno and Mallow.

have to say, Mario World.
Mario 3 is up there but the levels are a bnit short and underchallenging. World might have less power-ups but more bang for the buck I think...

Mario 3 was easy due to so many power ups. Not like that was a bad thing.:D

I believe Mindscape ported it to the home consoles (NES, Super NES) but it was originally developed by The Software Toolworks. Correct me if I am wrong.
(And don't just say, "you're wrong," link please.)
Also, I would have voted "Super Mario Bros. 4:* Super Mario World," but the reason I didn't like that game as much as I did SMB3 (the true 3D winner) is because Mario had poor character design. The levels had a bland look to them as well, compared to the bright colors of Super Mario Bros. 3.
Yes, the Super NES could produce about 5 trillion more colors than the NES, but let's just call it my aesthetic preference, hm?
*(The Japanese/Super Famicom copy of the game says Super Mario Bros. 4 on it in smaller print next to the Super Mario World logo.)

I would say Super Mario World. It's such a great game. Me and my sister bought that game for the GBA and we play it all the time now. It never gets old.
Going entirely on a first impression basis, SMB3, followed closely by SMB RPG
