Great Dynasty parody. That's the one thing I'll always remember about that show!

Once again American Dad is shaping up better than Family Guy.

Ouch, I wish they hadn't given Roger that "Who do you have to probe to get a Chardonnay around here?" line. There goes 3 weeks of defending this show against being too much like Family Guy.

Patrick Stewart's character is great. Ok maybe it is just Patrick that is just great.

"Feelings are what women have. They come from their ovaries!"

Ack! No! Now they used the Simpsons theramin joke! Of course, that was in season 15, so it's certainly possible they didn't see it.

I actually though this was better than Family Guy.

Funniest part was parachute ghosts.

"Wait, this is MY car. Even better!"
Classic.

And the episode itself... classic. Once again, a LOT better than tonight's Family Guy. I mean, I really don't want to be turning into a FG hater, but I really just enjoyed this so much more. This was the best episode yet. And despite that one line I mentioned above that they should've had the good judgment to leave out, it was also the least FG-like episode so far. There were several lines where you could see how on FG they would've gone to a cutaway, but it was also clear that with this show it just wouldn't work, because there was too much plot going on for that kinda stuff.
Heck, even comedy-wise it was probably better than tonight's FG, and usually it's just an overall thing.

This show has a lot more depth & character devlopment than FG. It is alot more like Futurama with its dramedy.

I enjoyed tonights episode and thought as well it was better than FG.

I just think this show is funnier than the current eps of FG all together and I hope it sticks around for a while... its pretty entertaining. I'd give tonights episode about a 7.5

Gotta love Patrick Stewart too

Eh, nothing special but I certainly didn't hate it like I did the first few weeks. I'm really starting to like the characters with the exception of Stan which is something Family Guy hasn't accomplished in 54 episodes (save Brian and Stewie).

I probably would have laughed more if I wasn't just coming off of that absolutely trashy episode of Family Guy. I think it temporarily broke my funny bone. **1/2.

SirLemming more or less summed up my views on the show. The writing on the show is fast and packs in a lot of great gags while giving room for a good plot and interesting/fun characters.

I also like the message about Athiesm, that even if you really think the idea of God is silly, you shouldn't be a jerk about it.

Dare I say that Klaus was extremely funny this time around. The allowance joke almost had me rolling on the floor. Also Patrick Stewart returning is something I now look forward to in future episodes.

I've got to admit, this episode of AD was obviously better than this week's FG episode. Roger seems to becoming a character of his own. Klaus also had some good moments in this ep. All in all, better than this week's FG episode. The characters are really starting to develop here. For me, that's a good sign the series is going in the right direction.

7.5/10

It actually has gotten funnier, but I don't think it was better than tonight's Family Guy. Kinda close, though.

For the most part, it's still hard for me to care about the characters. I don't think anything will make me like Stan, Francine looked dumb at the end, and Steve's "I have no father" line wasn't delivered that great.

Best episode of the show so far. Still a lot of lame jokes ("You should be stoned!" "Already there."), but this was the first to have a line that left me howling for 10 seconds straight ("Only women have feelings! They come from their ovaries."). And I'm not ashamed to admit that Roger is my favorite character, so having an episode focusing on him was nice.

I also liked the fact that for Roger's origin, they stuck to his line about saving Stan's life at Area 51 from the pilot. Family Guy's notorious for screwing with backstories.

Was the joke about jabbing Roger's eye taken from that Simpsons Treehouse of Horror?

I also like the message about Athiesm, that even if you really think the idea of God is silly, you shouldn't be a jerk about it.I didn't think that was the point....I thought the point was to laugh at Francine because she's such an idiot for believing in God....that kind of ruined the episode for me.

Yes, it had a better plot than FG, but I don't watch either of these for plots. I watch 24 for plots. I watch MacFarlane cartoons to laugh my head off, and AD wasn't delivering enough laughs tonight. I'm not saying the show is terrible, I'm saying all of you need to get your priorities straight.

Pretty funny episode. Just hearing Patrick Stewart say "butt stuff" had me laughing........ oh, yeah, of course, there were other moments, like when Roger commented about the Dynasty women character traits, and then the stoned scene. And then there was the God calender, which I thought was great.

I could go on, but then this post would turn into an episode summary. I give Roger Codger a B+.

"You should be stoned"

"Way ahead of you kid"

That was hillarious!

I was almost convinced that this episode may have ended up like American Dad's version of "Brian: Portrait of a Dog" almost verbatim. Gladly it was not the case. Dare I say it I'm beginning to really enjoy the style of humor of this more so than Family Guy. Unlike Family Guy that has to rely on widespread cutaways (which is funny don't get me wrong) there is effort here to rely on wordplay and laughs from the dialogue, and that makes it work.

Another notable thing is that they strayed away a bit of the standard "Steve Smith tries to get some" subplot of the past few episodes and that's good because I feared that would always be a constant in every episode.

Pretty good. I also liked it more than this week's Family Guy. Dare I say it, but Klaus' allowance line, "Oh what the hell, six bubbles, don't tell your mother" was the funniest line of the episode.

I was almost convinced that this episode may have ended up like American Dad's version of "Brian: Portrait of a Dog" almost verbatim. I was gonna say the same thing. The idea that the family (well actually, just Stan) failed to realize how much they miss Roger until he's gone is very similar to Peter dismissing Brian.

Still, a lot of good laughs in this one.
-The Dynasty jokes were great.
-The training course at the beginning was a great way to capture your attention.
-Stan's competition with the other agent for the best catch phrase.
-Stan mocking a dead Roger, thinking he's putting on an act for sympathy.
-The God calendar, as eyebrow-raising as it was, was still good for a chuckle.
-"Driver, follow that car!........ Oh wait, this is MY car. Even better!"

The only joke I found predictable was the religious/sex double meaning thing- "Oh God! Oh God!". They used that on "Shorties Watching Shorties" a while back, and I'm sure it's been used since... well... the dawn of stand-up comedy itself. Otherwise, more focused in its plot than Family Guy last night, and well worth the watch. GRADE: A-

Roger was just studying how some human creatures act. However, he's getting some bad examples. At the start did anyone see the name of the fake country? Anyways the fake country was called Baklava and it's a Greek dessert. Stan making fun of stuff made in China made me feel that in America, we try our best to make the best products money can buy. I must say is Patrick Stewart staying around for a while? Good episode I give a B+.

You watch 24 for plots? I find that hard to believe considering the ridiculous nature of the plots in that show. Most people watch 24 for suspense.

But, getting back on topic, I thought this episode was okay, but not as good as tonights Family Guy, which wasn't all that great either.

This was a good episode. The part where Roger goes into stress Hibernation was silly especially when Stan poked his eye with a fork. I don't know why I found this funny but when Roger was in the bus with the old lady he sprayed his goo everywhere and the old lady says. "Oh don't worry I do that all the time, and I'm doing it right now apparently."

And the part where Stan has to listen to the Al Queda babble was funny too. I give this episode a B+

Another great episode! Third week in a row( though I DID think last week's was THE best so far). And btw...unlike everyone else here, I DO like Stan- I think he's hilarious.

Patrick Stewart was great, as Mr. Stewart ALWAYS is( hey, he IS the captain of the Starship Enterprise), and it was just overall a great episode. This show definitely has staying potential. Now, here's a thought- how about we move Family Guy and American Dad UP an hour...to...say...8-9? Yes, that would mean tossing the Simpsons, but at this point, WHO CARES?!!!!!!!!!! :D

I think the reason The Simpsons is still on right now is because Fox had nothing to replace it with.

That would be just great.:DI know. I still love the show but I've always felt that scripted series should always have an end. There is really no incentive to buy the later seasons of the show on DVD if I'll never be able to complete my collection.
