Is there a way to block threads?

is there a way to hide threads so they don't appear on your screen?

for example, if i don't want to see birthday threads in CTZ, is there a way i could customize the settings so that when i enter the forums, birthday threads won't show up on my screen, but still be visible on everyone else's?

There isn't, and I don't think there's something on VBulletin that can add such a feature.
