Last week's TV GUIDE pulled the old (and lame, admittedly) comic-book trick of 4 different covers, in this case showcasing (with painted Alex Ross artwork) "Smallville"s cast: Clark, Lex, Lana, and (though without a "Smallville" logo) the adult Superman. Didn't read the article on "Smallville" inside, though I understand it's garnering respectable ratings (and will be back for another season)... (shrug).

This week, four different covers are featured for the "Lord of the Rings" movie (with a painted look, IIRC).....

Finally, while doing cardio exercises at the gym today, saw in last week's "Entertainment Weekly" magazine they had there an article reviewing various posters, including the one for the "Scooby Doo" movie...they gave the movie's poster a lesser grade due to finding Scooby "a little too CGI-ish looking".... here's a picture of the poster on the apparently-official website (complete with the CGI-Scooby): http://scoobydoo.warnerbros.com/

Also noticed that "Ain't It Cool News" site supposedly has pictures of the CGI-Scoobster (at: http://www.aint-it-cool.com/display.cgi?id=10294 )

While I guess all this is old news, it seemed worth mentioning (esp. gauging from the less-than-eager anticipation Mad Hatter and others noted on here a few months ago....)

Apparently with nothing better to do than post "news links" to stuff lately....but can come up with another guess as to what the KWB promo for this film might be like :-)

Anybody else getting tired of TV Guide coming out with 4 different covers each week? It's a novelty that gets old real fast.

I have a Pokemon set from a year or two back... My little sister wanted all the HP covers...

Scooby. Er, yay. EW is right, Scooby does look too much like a digital creation. Then again, it would be really, really hard for anyone to make a real-life Scooby that blends in without looking creepy. Then again again, making a live-action Scooby is a REALLY BAD IDEA.

I _still_ haven't seen the new Scooby DTV... I keep meaning to, since you seemed to think it was okay, and the latest Scooby vids have actually been fairly enjoyable. Call me a heretic, but I think that Scooby Doo on Zombie Island was exactly what Scooby should be.

Indeed..... haven't they run out of TV shows to strip-mine for nostalgic value *yet*? I suppose at this rate, there'll be a "Meet the Press" movie (see: Ah-nuld Schwartzenegger playing Bill Clinton! [AH-NULD: Yah, I cheated on mah wife wid da pretty girly lady-person] Sigourney Weaver playing an angered activist! [SIGOURNEY: OK, that's it... (whips out Big Futuristic-Looking Gun) This is *not* where we "agree to disagree", *Senator*....] And to ensure it sucks as much as possible, we'll change the entire premise and add kewl Gen-X elements to the whole thing's "creative reinterpretation" [see: the host eating pizza puffs and asking "duuuude, where's my tax cut?"!]).

Still, the CGI-Scooby Doo, if the larger pictures *are* what he'll really look like, didn't overly excite me, I guess; Scooby looked a little *too*, well, realistic (at least in his face). And from the guys playing the rest of the gang (including that photo with whoever's playing Daphne having a rather plunging neckline in one shot), I think I'd rather see one of the recent D2V movies released to the theaters instead (though I guess that'd mean that, since it'd be entertaining, Warner Bros. would give it the advertising/promo budget on par with that cup full of pennies I've been keeping.....).

"Cyber Chase" was OK, though "Zombie Island" was better.... still haven't seen the one with the aliens/Roswell setting, yet...

And since I may as well get it over with, a fake promo for this live-action thing:

[Cue the KWB CGI Studio Lot, as generic-and-overused-looking as ever. We see on the screen tons of merchandise of the Scooby Doo-movie [and animated versions] appear on screen]

ANNOUNCER: You could *win* a ton of "Scooby Stuff"! Just enter our "Scooby Snack Attack Contest"!

[We see pop up some still-and-unmoving shot of the CGI-Scooby Doo smiling/licking his lips/holding a burger; several similar shots follow]

ANNOUNCER: Just watch each and every episode of our "Electric Pikachu Boogaloo" marathon all this week on Kids' WB (Cue stock footage of the Poke-critters on the CGI-Studio lot) and you could *win*! Our grand prize: actually getting to *meet* a "Scooby Doo" cast member, just like in the movie! (Short clip of the movie plays, followed by some poor yahoo unhappily shaking hands with the Wesley Crusher of animation, Scrappy Doo)

ANNOUNCER: Just write down which scene you see the special CGI-looking Scooby Snack from each Pokemon episode (cue a shot of a CGI-Snack popping up during a key point in the Pokemon episode, obscuring part of the action), and send it on a postcard to one of the seven different cut-rate mailboxes we've rented out in some two-bit southern California suburb like we use for all our other contests!

[See: a one of those mailbox rental places in San Dimas, California; somebody who looks like the guy who played Bill in the "Bill and Ted" movies is manning the place]

ANNOUNCER: (as more CGI-Scooby footage pops up all over the screen, interspersed with stock shots of Scooby licking his lips, cowering in fear, running, and laughing) Enter the contest today, or you'll be forced to say:

SCOOBY STOCK FOOTAGE: Roser?

ANNOUNCER: *Noooo*, "loser"!

SCOOBY STOCK FOOTAGE: (Stilted-animation-speaking) Rat's rhat I said.....

ANNOUNCER: *Sigh*....
