Mine's was the Blue Dragons. It's recent though, before that we were the... drumroll... the Challengers!

What a Challenger is I'm not sure. We didnt even have a logo, so I'm assuming it's not the spaceship.

We were the Raiders, though there was talk about changing that since Raiders was thought to refer to Indians and was unPC. But I think this problem was avoided because the actual costumed mascot guy was a pirate.

My town was the site of the first High School football game, our town's team versus the next town over. When we played them each Thanksgiving, the rivalry was very strong.

Mine is a tale of bitter resentment....

When I was in high school, the mascot was Indians. The town was founded by Indians, named after an Indian princess, and the football team and mascot was in honor of this. However, a certain group of Indians decided that it wasn't an honor to have the school mascot an Indian, so they sued the school district...and won. Now the mascot is some stupid dog.

I think I can top you all, so far. My high school mascot was... drum roll... the wampus cat. What's a wampus cat? Well, apparently it's a blue, six-legged bobcat. Four legs for standing, two legs for attacking. Somehow it completely fails to strike fear into our opponents. I'd say this mascot was inspired by a night of heavy drinking...

My mascot was the Mustang... best school mascot I had, IMO...

...my college mascot was the Warriors, but due to the Political Correctedness of society and the Sociology department, there's been talk for years now of changing it... ah well, I graduated as a Warrior so I'll always be a Warrior... woohoo =)

Both my high school and college had Indian mascots. Here in the South we don't cotton much to political correctness bullpuckey.

My brothers' school mascot is a tiger...also a noble and fearsome beast. A squid, you say? Is it a coastal town? A lobster, or a cool fish like a barracuda or a coelacanth I could fathom...but a multipod? Insert stir-fry jokes here, friends and neighbors.

My high school colors were maroon and white--dried blood on fresh plaster, I called it. Horrendous....

Hey, where'd you go to school at? We used to play the Wampus Cats in Football, but I can't remember which school it was. Somewhere in SE Oklahoma.

I am part of the Blue Devils. We've had this for many years and let's hope they never change it.Our colors are red, white, and blue, and our football team almost won Stste for their division. We don't really have a "mascot", but you could say "we" are the mascots.

Hey, we are the Warriors too!!! I don't think the schoolboard would ever change it because, well, that would require doing work. But, yeah, as my title says, the Wayne H.S. mascot is a Warrior. And football is practically religious here. I don't care much for it, but i'm pretty school spirited, so i wear the title w/ pride.

The Apache. We had problems at my high school with our mascot being an Indian as well. We got to keep ours. The students and the staff put in a lot of effort to demonstrate that we don't mean any offense by it and respect the Apaches. We replaced the old 50's, 60's caricuture with a more noble Apache warrior a couple years ago and got rid of the guy who posed as Apache Joe and did cartwheels at football games. My high school even went out to an Apache reservation to ask permission to use the Apache as our mascot and to get to know the people as well. From what I heard, it went really well and we even have a sister school there. :)

My high school's mascot was an Indian - the Sequatchie County Indians.

In college at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, we were the Mocs (short for Moccasins). We had an Indian mascot there too until there was a bit of a hubub over it. They hired a high-priced design firm to create a new mascot and image for the school. They got something that was supposed to be a mockingbird (thus keeping the "Mocs" mascot)...but it looks NOTHING like a mockingbird.

On a sidenote, I went to school there to get a degree in Graphic Design and while all this hubub was going on, one of our assignments was to redesign the schools image- coming up with a new mascot, treatment, etc. The mascot I came up with - a Titan...four or so years BEFORE there were the Tennessee Titans. I must've been on to something with that....of course the logo REALLY stunk though (I think this was sophomore year...).

Okay - End ramble.
