NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Eh, they may have finally learned how to sing in the last six years.

And if you're going to start a topic at least post something worthwhile that isn't simply postcounting.

That wasn't post counting, btw. It was meant as sarcasm.

Anyway, I read that in AMNewYork that I found on a SEPTA train yesterday (5/25) so I know that is true. Here's a link to confirm it:

Read it and weep, kids.

Are they still alive?

Does this officially make them an "oldies" act? (My God, what does that make me? I remember when they were new.)

Considering that none of them has had a hit record since they broke up (although I think Posh and Sporty got a couple of songs in the mid-level of the charts in England, but for the life of me, I can't remember them), I suppose it's either a reunion tour or a reality show, so I guess they made the right choice.

Actually, Spice World was a mildly amusing film, if not a great one. They at least had enough sense not to take themselves too seriously (unlike a lot of similarly untalented performers -- I'm lookin' at YOU, P. Diddy).

I don't believe they're reuniting for a new album, just to perform together at Live Aid II, that's all.

However, I have to say that I've always liked the Spice Girls. I have their first two CDs, and I played them endlessly. Nothing deep or moving, but certainly fun, and I thought they could sing well enough. There's not that many female singers that I like, but I did like them. :D

Yeah, what's so wrong with the Spice Girls?

I actually liked them. It would be interesting to see what it will be like if they reunite.

That said, when I was a child I was obsessed with the Spice Girls. I look back at old school photos when I was in the "Autism Base" in a special elementary school and I'm still embaressed by the photos with me doing a "V" sign at the camera chanting "Girl Power". :o

I'm not gay, if you were thinking that. I was just a young misunderstood little boy who liked the Spice Girls that's all. :anime:

Are all five returning or is Ginger still out? I'd like them to stay together just long enough to make a sequel to Spice World.

I actualy like the Spice Girls...

Also quite a few of the members made some worthwhile songs from their single careers

I just found them annoying. It's weird that they were popular in the grunge, bad-attitude 90's instead of the vapid, airhead 2000's, where they would have been more at home. Maybe they CAN come back!

I liked Spice Girls music videos. Like the one where they're singing "I'm giving you everything, all the joy....", they're just cheesy yet sexy agents or assasins or something, with sci fi weapons and the video has like no connection to the theme of the song. What's funny is when I saw their first music video, I thought it was something old, like from the late eighties.

What was great about the Spice Girls was how they were always used as comedy material on TV. I never got tired of references to them. I liked how in the movie Serendipity, the movie reminds you that the main portion takes place in 1997 when the one dude mentions the Spice Girls. Once the girls' nicknames were revealed, everybody had their own idea for an addition to the Spice Girls despite the fact the members never changed. Barbie Spice, Lumpy Spice, Mild Spice, Irish Spice, etc... you had to have heard them all in their original context to really enjoy the humor.

To be honest, I'm a closet Spice Girl fan. I have both CDs and get some guilty laughs from their movie. I tend to listen to a lot of depressing music, so I looked at the Spice Girl CDs as something that was "fun and light-hearted."

I'd be rather impartial to a reunion though....especially if it isn't all five of them. I've got my memories...that's enough. lol :p

Ugh. The Spice Girls, in my eyes (and ears), are the worst band in history. I despised them more than Britney Spears. The day they broke up was the happiest day of my life.

This news makes my stomach churn.

I just found them annoying. It's weird that they were popular in the grunge, bad-attitude 90's instead of the vapid, airhead 2000's, where they would have been more at home. Maybe they CAN come back! By the time the Spice Girls came around, grunge and that "bad-attitude 90s" was pretty much dead. We're talking 1996/1997 when some of the biggest hits were "The Macarena" and "Mmmbop".

That said, I'll always argue that music, specifically top40 got pretty damn boring after the year 2001. So the Spice Girls woud be a welcome change to most of the crap today.

The day they broke up was the happiest day of my life. Wow, your life must suck then. :p

Well actually Tak, since your male it would of been "cool" to DISlike them, 'cause there all girly and stuff :p. Actually it was more cool to like them and not their music. The Spice Girls were popular when I was in six/seventh grade and I remember how every guy wanted to do whoopy with them.

Okay, my direct responses go in this order:

1) Why?
2) I couldn't care less.
3) They're still alive?

I think that about sums it up nicely.

After the Backstreet Boys announces their return, now the Spice Girls.
Even failure after failure, they both need money that's all.

After the Backstreet Boys announces their return, now the Spice Girls. And I love them both. The new BSB single gets constant play on my iPod.

I remember loving the Spice Girls, then went through a phase where it was cool to hate them, but recently Spice World was on HBO, so I watched it and it reawakened my love of the Spice Girls. Gotta buy the CDs. So really, this news is pretty cool to me.

People always think its 'cool' to hate any popular music of sorts. Spice Girls were pop, and they knew their stuff. Upbeat and fun, their songs weren't supposed to be revolutionary or anywhere near deep. Those who expect these elements in their music are just being unreasonable.Accept them for what they are, regardless of whether or not you like them.;)

Ahhhh...the Spice Girls. There always was something fun and frivolous about them, and I'm glad the time has passed where people have to be afraid to admit that they owned one of their cds.

But I don't think the time has come for them to return. They were what they were, and returning to the biz means reinventing and taking on a new angle. That will be completely impossible for them since they were one dimensional.

If it's just a concert benefit where they sing some old songs, that's fine.
