In another thread, lislebartman reminded us that Robert McKimson never got his own volume in the "blue" Golden Jubilee 24 Karat Collecton. The guy deserved one!

It got me to thinking - what were MY favorite cartoons from this neglected master?

01. Acrobatty Bunny (1946)

05. Rebel Rabbit (1949)
06. Windblown Hare (1949)
07. What's Up Doc? (1950)

13. Rabbit's Kin (1952)
16. Devil May Hare (1954)
17. Wideo Wabbit (1956)
18. Bedevilled Rabbit (1957)

Of the others :
01. Daffy Doodles (1946)
02. Mouse-Merized Cat (1946)
03. Birth of a Notion (1947)
04. The Shell-Shocked Egg (1948)
05. Hippity Hopper (1949)

Well Robert McKimson got his own tape in the COLUMBIA HOUSE Looney Tunes series, with 14 cartoons.

The tape is called "Daffy Doodles". Here's what's on it:

1 - "A-Lad-in His Lamp"
2 - "Boobs in the Woods"
3 - "Lovelorn Leghorn"
4 - "Daffy Doodles"
5 - "Big Top Bunny"
6 - "Pop 'im Pop!"
7 - "French Rarebit"
8 - "Daffy Duck Hunt"
9 - "Bill of Hare"
10 - "Easter Yeggs"
11 - "The Windblown Hare"
12 - "Daffy Duck Slept Here"
13 - "Little Boy Boo"
14 - "What's Up Doc?"

Truly some of McKimson's classics! Oddly, the Chuck Jones tape in this series didn't have ONE Road Runner cartoon.

Here is what I would include on "A Salute to Robert McKimson"...

1. "The Hole Idea"
2. "The High and the Flighty"
3. "Lighthouse Mouse"
4. "Rebel Rabbit"
5. "Ducking the Devil"
6. "Fox-Terror"
7. "Fool Coverage"
8. "Bartholomew Versus The Wheel"

As a practically life-long WB fan, I was one of the first to notice the lack of a McKimson tape in the Golden Jubilee series. At first, I just figured it was because that unlike Blanc, Freleng, and Jones, McKimson was actually dead by the time the tapes were being released (McKimson died in 1977; the tapes were made in 1985) and that they just weren't doing posthumous honors. Still, McKimson contributed every bit as much to WB animation as Jones, Freleng, and Blanc. He should not have been neglected...

A good selection. If I was putting together a Tribute to McKimson videotape, I would throw in one of McKimson's television parodies, either "The Honey-Mousers" or "The Mouse That Jack Built".
