I had to ask because I see people typing it every which way all the time.

I've typed it all the common ways, but I just do with 'Scryed' nowadays.

As far as I can tell, unless I missed something (which is possible since I got rather sleepy in the anime club), they never even explain the bizarre title, so you might as well just do it the "incorrect" way and call it "Scryed".

I have no preference, I usually just c+p the name from inside the thread it's being mentioned in.

What do you mean by 'never explained'?

Every episode of Scryed begins with a dream of that girl!

[Short for descry.]

I know the Engrish is not correct, as it was suppose to be scried. But we can tell clearly that every episode is seen through the eyes of Kanami Yuta, as she said: 'I dreamed last night that...'

There is also the possibility the anime crew merely scrambled 'descry' and moved scry to the front...
descry \dih-SKRY\, transitive verb:
1. To catch sight of, especially something distant or obscure; to discern.
2. To discover by observation; to detect.

On a clear day, if there was no sun, you could descry (but barely) the ships roving out at anchor in Herne Bay and count their masts.
--Ferdinand Mount, Jem (and Sam) (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/078670649X/ref=nosim/lexico)

The future appears to us neither as impenetrable darkness nor as broad daylight, but rather in a half-light, in which we can descry the rough form of the nearest objects, and vague outlines farther off.
--Robert Conquest, Reflections on a Ravaged Century (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0393048187/ref=nosim/lexico)

In effect, the whole series was about Kanami and her ability to see the actions and behaviour of people from far away. Hope that clears up a few things...

[Short for descry.]In all honesty I had no idea "scry" was any sort of real word.

I wasn't being serious. But let me be serious. I watched s.CRY.ed on Adult Swim onDemand and it was terrible. I don't know what happened to Bandai Visual/Sunrise but they seriously should just stop animating cartoons. If you hated the super-digital Gundam SEED animation you'll loathe this show.

That was only a severely small portion of the show though, right? I'd like to think there is something to look foward to in the show.

I keep things simple and type it "Scryed".

Since the can of worms is opened, let me say that I predict most of you will not like this show. It's sort of on the level of Inuyasha, but less fun. And like Inuyasha its placement on Adult Swim is questionable -- from what I remember it's significantly less violent than IY. It'll probably have a similar fanbase. Theoretically I guess the dub could really improve things, but probably not.

Though I do wonder if they've fixed the sub translations a bit, with the guy who makes unintentionally suggestive comments about his giant magnum (because he literally has a gun that's about as big as a few tanks) and the guy who keeps referring to his "balls" (the orbs that he uses for various attack/defense maneuvers).

Why type? I'll just copy and paste the spelling closest to me.

I doubt even the IY fans'll go for it. It's no Reign, but holy **** are Hisashi Hirai's character designs pretty damn ugly.

Other than that, though, it's your typically dumb fighting show, not great not terrible.

I will say this, though, the girl with the short blue hair is really hot. I know I'm pathetic but it's true.

And if they show the proper end credits, we can hear the wonderful Engrish line "I believe in drastic my soul!" But it'll probably cut out before that part.

Ah, yes... her.

Quite possibliy the most interesting character as far as motivation goes...;)

Oh, for those who are watching this for the first time:

Scryed's 'Alter Users' are similar to X-men mutants as far as how they are treated in society, but they had a few advantages mutants dont get:

1. The Alter power only manifests itself when the owner desires it, so there is actually little problems with them blending into normal society. You can't detect an Alter user by external appearance.

2. The Alter power a user possess, matches his/her personality precisely. Therefore every Alter user get his/her power in the form that is most ideal to the owner. e.g. People who likes to melee would get melee powers. (One Alter user in the show is an absolute coward who get frightfully scared whenever he is in danger. You would have to see the show to realise what that means for his choice of superpower:D )

3. There is a VERY simple rule that determines the reason why any particular Alter user is stronger than the rival... But you would have to figure it out yourself.

Make no mistake; Scryed is really all about two guys who disliked each other, and wants to determine who is the alpha male ASAP. The plot is not complicated, but the battle sequences are always good at keeping up the audience's heart rate.

There are two different opening sequences, for the two male characters, and I hope AS plans to keep that... It lets you know which side of Law/Chaos we are viewing from each episode.
(minor spoiler]
I presume the 'greyed out' sequences near the end of the show would be kept?

My DVDs say s-CRY-ed, so... *shrug*

So, yeah. It's not the greatest show in the world, but I think it's fun. Not every show has to be mind-blowingly in-depth to be enjoyable. I found it entertaining, and hey, sometimes that can be enough.

Make note that not only are there distinct versions of the OP for Kazuma and Ryuho, but those versions change frequently over time. Nearly every episode has a different opening sequence, even if it's only a small tweak or two occasionally. Plus, the theme itself has three different versions that play in the various episodes. (I THINK it's three. It might just be two.)

*slaps forehead*

I'm two-thirds of the way through the full series. I had not connected the different openings with which side of the order/chaos balance is the primary episode focus until you mentioned it.

I'm feeling really oblivious right now. :(

Isnt there something different in the OP for nearly almost every episode? I think I remember hearing about that.
