I was just thinking, as I read the posts about which characters you guys want to see on the show, how hard it must be to write something plausable plot-wise, yet involve all these characters. Timm and company certainly had their tasks cut out for them with this show. One thing I never hope to see with happen with JL is that it becomes some sort of star-studded series. Sure, we all want to see our favorite characters, but the show isn't really supposed to be about a party mix of DC icons, is it? Shouldn't it be more about a team of people trying to save the world? I think that would get pretty old after a while, though.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for the success of the show! I really enjoyed Secret Origins and all, but I worry about the show just becoming a sort of super-hero and super-villain party. When I finally get to see the entire season, whenever that happens, I'm worried that the introduction of so many new and "important" characters in just one season may be too much for me. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Thoughts...?

While replying to another thread I went back and looked at an old interview with Timm and Glen Murakami. Check out the "I will never make JL:TAS" line (http://purpleplanetmedia.com/eye/inte/btimm-4.shtml) from Timm (you'll have to scroll down to it). It explains how conscious he is of just the kind of trap you're discussing.

Glad someone else here realizes the hard work that goes into this.

Yeah, Bruce Timm (or anyone else for that matter) did not wanna do this. You'll remember the old WIZARD article where someone (I think it was Timm) said how incredibly hard it is to do a regular TAS episode with 4 main characters, and how people would lose track of them if they did a Justice League.

And then there were the legal reasons with the JLA TV Pilot, but obviously that's passed (keep that in mind with the JSA, kids).

But I think a huge reason they finally did JL is because of "The Call." Not only was it well-received, but it proved to the creators that they COULD do that. Also, they came to realization that they could do hour-long shows rather than half-hour shows (one of the best moves they made with this).
