I think at this point it's safe to say that CN doesn't have any Bosko or Buddy cartoons in it's library. Cause there was no better time to show one than now. :(

For the last cartoon they should've shown something like "Billboard Frolics" or "I Wanna Play House" which were both important parts of Friz's film career. Besides, They already had an episode that included "A Star is Hatched." The first cartoon should've been "Bosko in Dutch" because that's the first film Friz ever directed. They also said "Beauty and the Beast" was the first cartoon Friz directed. Other than that the show was great. Both "Beauty and the Beast" and "Mr. and Mrs. is the Name" were two toons I just recently lost in my collection.

I knew no Bosko cartoon would come on, but I checked just in case. There was a little clip at the beginning from SINKIN' IN THE BATHTUB.
And at least they showed MR. AND MRS. IS THE NAME. I remember hearing that cartoon doesn't come on much anymore, and somebody here posted what's in the cartoon that could be considered un-PC. I think I know what he was talking about.

I merged your thread into this one, to make it all neat-like. :)
It looked like the "Sinkin' in the Bathtub" clip was from a Bosko Video master, cause it was window-boxed.

Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, but was Bosko ever mentioned by name when clips of him were shown?

Yup, he was mentioned at the beginning when Freleng went to work for Harman and Ising.

It would have been better if they'd show a Bosko (or even Buddy), but this was a pretty good show. This is the first time I've seen the first 3 cartoons in the show...
Did anyone see the red piece of film that followed the AAP logo on A Star Is Hatched?
It looked like there was some gooey substance on it....
This is what the "eastmancolor" film looks like when it starts to rot. The film will shrink, warp, and actually release a vinegar odor.
Also, if you have a VCR with frame-by-frame playback, you can see where the splice is where AAP put their eastmancolor AAP logo intro onto an original Technicolor print of the cartoon.

I got to watch the show on tape this morning (I lost my power last night around 1am, so I missed The Popeye Show! :( ).
Anyway, Bosko wasn't actually mentioned by name. There was only mention of Freleng working with Harman and Ising on their two "new series" of cartoons. They showed a picture of Bosko and Honey, and clips from "Sinkin' in the Bathtub". But, for whatever reason, never said Bosko's name.
To be fair, they didn't say "Beauty and the Beast" was the first cartoon Freleng directed. Rather, the first Merrie Melodie he directed.

There was about a few seconds before the aap logo actually came on the screen. I could already sense the logo coming, so I had already written the letters "a.a." on my sheet of paper, before the logo appeared.
I should have taped it last night.

Argus said that Buddy was in "Mr. & Mrs. Is the Name." Is this true?!

No, not exactly. The boy mermaid in the cartoon does look like Buddy (a fact the narrator pointed out before the cartoon started), but it isn't technically a Buddy cartoon.

I don't believe you can truly say that is the case, as CN may have them and choose NOT to run them for some reason. You can, however, make the argument that CN will probably not likely run any anytime soon, if ever, as it was an excellent chance to do so last night.

It should be interesting to see what is shown on next week's episodes, especially the Sylvester one.

I guess since no Boskos were played they didn't bother mentioning the name...but at least they showed a picture and clips of him. Funny, they mentioned Buddy, but showed no other clips of him. I'd never seen "Mr. And Mrs. is the Name" other than stills and artwork, but I can see why it's not on very often, for one, it's boring, and for other reasons, well...look at the beginning. I'd be willing to call it a Buddy cartoon...just call it "Mer-Buddy". That is definitely Buddy with fins, though I'll agree it is not technically billed as a Buddy film. I thought the show was interesting anyway, I had accidentally taped over my copy of "Beauty and the Beast", and got "Mr.and Mrs. Is the Name".

In the 1980 edition of "The Encyclopedia of Animated Cartoons" it says the Buddy does star in "Mr. and Mrs. is the Name."

The Encyclopedia of Animated Cartoons also says "Punch Trunk" is a Bugs Bunny cartoon. :p

I think Jerry Beck and Will Firedwald also described the heroine in "Beauty and the Beast" as being "Buddy in drag," so I suppose you could say there were two Buddy cartoons on the Freleng show last night (though Buddy's cross-dressing abilities were shown to far more effectiveness in "Buddy's Beer Garden").
