Er...well...that was interesting.
It sure revealed an awful lot, with one of the grisliest scenes ive seen on the show (not really a good or bad thing to me,but worth noting anyway)
Unfortunately, the entire plot,to me,felt more like the SETUP for a plot...it ended just when most other simpsons episodes would just be beginning their "main" story (which in this case would have been a nice Smithers one)

Now we know why Smithers Jr. is the way he is. Mr.Burns says his dad was killed by amazonian women. That would explain alot.

This was the first episode of the Simpsons since the Halloween episode, and the first one on Sunday night since sometime last year. I have to say I found it much more enjoyable than last year's shows, but still not quite the Simpsons gold we all know and love the show for.
How many episodes have aired this season, so far?

Let's see there was the Halloween one, the premiere, the REM one, the Julia-Louis Dreyfuss one, and this one. So that makes... 5. I think it's a problem when I have to start referrring to Simpsons' eps by the celebrity voices that appeared in the show.
This week's Simpsons was pretty funny. Some of the animation and voice work seemed a little off though, it's possible I could be nitpicking, but there were a couple moments where I thought something was a bit... odd.
What strikes me about this season is it feels like they're trying to get back to what made the Simpsons so great in the past. But at the same time it feels kind of forced. It's sort of like the X-Files, after a weak 6th & 7th seasons, they tried to get back to the "basics" last year. And last year's X-Files were pretty good, the best since season 5. But something was missing, the "magic" was gone. And that's how I feel about the Simpsons right now. They're trying, but its not all clicking, the magic's missing.

Speaking of X Files...anybody watching that this year? I have yet to see any discussion about this. I have yet been able to bring myself to watch an episode.

I'm still following it relatively religiously, i think I'm the only one left.
I've always given the X-Files the benefit of the doubt, and I've loved the mythology eps, but the 1st two eps this year, which were parts 2 & 3 connected to last year's season finale were not very good. It didnt make much sense and for the first time in a long time, they bored me. It felt like the writers had no clue what they were doing and were making stuff up and adding things as they went along. Their mythology is totally screwed now, it's way too obvious that they lost focus.
However, the first standalone ep last week was very good. I have this week's ep on tape and I'll watch it later tonight.
It's a shame how far its fallen though. I've been re-watching the season 2 eps at 11.30 and those were GREAT. It had that "magic" touch.

Just for the record, tonight's TXF was really good. Very interesting. Very moving.

I've missed about a season's worth due to poor reception on FOX...but last night it came in fine...plus I found a cheater feed that runs it at six-thirty Sunday morning. I'm a little mad, truthfully, because I didn't find it sooner!
Scully is...what? An active member of the FBI, or retired/a consultant? And is that Mulder's baby boy?
Was Lukeish feeding his crippled mother his victims' severed tongues?

Scully's still an active member of the FBI.
Yep that's supposedly Mulder's baby boy, although he might not be entirely human, so who knows.
And I assume Lukeish was feeding his mom toungue sandwiches.
