I'm curious if this is a national problem or local.

After a certain time (not sure yet what the cut-off time is) but the AS shows late in the morning hours aire in a very grainy, poor quality broadcast. It's not a huge problem for older shows such as Lupin (where video quality isn't a big deal), but my recording of Champloo was horrific (I record on XP to the harddrive on my dvd recorder... this should be crystal like all other programs). I finally realized that the later reruns (2am till 6) are ALL embarrasingly poor.

I'm guessing it isn't the cable provider that's to blame here, as all other shows at those hours are fine. And CN day to around 1 am or so are very clear and sharp images.

So what's the deal? Any ideas as to what the cause is, how long this has been the case, and if AS will rectify this?

I don't generally watch the encore AS presentation, but when I have I never had an issue with video quality. What does your provider have to say about it?

I've watched on Comcast and Dish and both look excellent at night.

I've occassionally noticed some brief static in a couple of shows. Only lasts for a few seconds, but it seems to happen randomly throughout the day.

Uhh SC's first episode has very dark lighting..(which reminds me of Kenshin's first episode too..)

I have fiber optic TV and the audio on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim is terrible all the time!!! It's the only channel I have with terrible audio. It sounds like they compressed sound or something.

The picture quality is fine all the time though.

If it's a cable your recording on, that's your explanation.

I've got DirecTV, and I actually noticed some "distortion" (kind of a scrambled look for a second) during Lupin at 4 AM today. Only popped up for a moment, but it was strange.

I've never had any issues. So, it's probably just you or a very isolate problem.
