Does anyone know if JLU has been renewed? Anyone know how many more seasons of JLU is left?

Yes, so far it's renewed for one more season (for a total of 39 episodes). Whether there will be more episodes after that isn't known and probably hasn't been decided on yet.

Wow if I had a buck for each time this question is asked I'll be a rich man. There really should be a sticky thread that has answers to all the questions that get asked often like this one.

I thought that season 3 of JLU was going to be more than 13 episodes; if that's the case, how close to the 52 episode threshold are we at this point?
:)

No, season 3 is thirteen episodes just like the other seasons.

Hmmm? Lemme see. So far we had 13 episodes in JLU Season 1 , season 2 has 13 episodes slotted & season 3 of JLU has been confirmed to Have 13 episodes so 13+13+13 = 39. Rocket science this is not!

Personally I've always thought that the 52 episode threashold thing is one of the most moronic things that is out there today. I hate it when they take good shows off the air just to replace them with crap just because they've hit 52 episodes. And honestly there is way to much crap on today to be removing a show like JLU. I say let it run till there are no more stories to tell.

I rather a show that actually stimulates thinking be on a long time then a show that kills brain cells, which most of the stuff on CN does right now.

am i wrong in assuming there will be a season 4 of JLU? that will give it 52 episodes, but i also thought i read that a season 4 was confirmed? anyone know?

all i know is the more jlu the better, but i'll be happy w/ only 52 episodes, as long as theyre mostly quality episodes, like season 2 is appearing to be. and as long as they plan ahead, which it seems they're doing, in terms of writing stories and planning arcs, so if season 4 is possibly the last, i'm pretty excited to see what they have planned for that season, you know. it'll be good.

peace.

No, JLU has only been renewed through Season 3 (at least, as far as we know).

DerekPowers, this isn't directed at you, per se, but I agree with an earlier poster in this thread... it seems like every other day people ask how many more JLU episodes have been confirmed. It's getting a little tiresome.

Ok, silly question but what does the 52 episode threshold represent?

I think that it has something to do with the perception of the show being new and fresh. Once a show has been on long enough to reach 52 episodes it might mean to the idiots that come up with such things that the only people watching it are those that really like it, but if they change the name people might think that hey this is new and it will get more viewers. Also every show once it reaches 52 episodes instantly runs out of good story ideas, its a unwritten law.

I think its just some stupid thing that someone came up with so that shows are always new instead of keeping around shows that are just good. I can understand shutting it down if the creative minds behind it decide they are done with it, or if the show is so horrible that nobody watches it, but just to pick a arbitrary number of episodes and say thats when a show is finished is extremely moronic in my opinion. I'm hoping that JL gets that fourth year and then makes a minor name change and goes for another 52 episodes. I would love for this show to reach 150-200 episodes from all its incartations, with as many characters as JL can pull in I believe that is easily accomplished while remaining a quality show, even at 200 episodes I believe that people would still want 50 more. Which says alot about the team behind it, and the DC product in general.

That is a pretty silly reason if that is the case. I'm right there with you, I hope JLU goes on for as long as possible

also, i think 52 episodes also is the acceptable number to start running a show in syndication or airing repeats. i think it also has to do w/ that.

Anyway, i sometimes wish american cartoons would end, you know? instead of being milked till we cant take it anymore. itd be nice if creators could plan a show, with a begining and an end, and execute it, like many japanese shows are done that way. so i think the '52' episode thing could be a blessing in discuise, and it maybe give the JLU creative team the chance to 'end the dcau' or have a big finale, since they can plan for it.

I really have no problem with shows having endings, but alot of the Anime programs I'm sure that you are refering to with endings have story lines that push towards said ending. So I really don't feel they're the same as something like the shows of the DCAU, yes they have story lines but really not to many that are always there in the background. JL really is the first to try such a thing.

I would rather the creative team be allowed to do the show till it had run its course and then dedicate a season to finishing it off.

Haha! Welcome you are, young Jedi. Seriosly though, this 52-65 episode limit on cartoons is retarded! Unless a show sucks big time, there's no reason to pull the plug on a great show like JLU after only 52 episodes. The main reason has always been that now they have enough shows in the can, they can go into syndication & show it on a daily basis in reruns. If I'm not mistaken, Dragonball Z has like over 250 episodes & is still going strong w/DGGT! It's an awesome show & so is JLU & Bruce Timm & co should be allowed to do as many JLU episodes as long as they have great stories to tell! When they finally run out of great DCAU stories to tell, then & only then should they end the series! I see no reason in the world that this series shouldn't last 10 seasons. One day a few yrs down the road, I would love to sit down with my kids on a Saturday morning & just watch a marathon of JLU dvd volumes I thru V ! :D

I don't know if the weekday airing is really the reason behind the 52 episodes, shows have aired with far less, TT I believe was airing fifty times a day after one season (yes I know thats a extreme exaggeration) and Fooly Cooly was airing four nights a week and that show has only what seven episodes. I think DB/DBZ/DBGT is a good example of a show that has been allowed to go to long myself, though I will admit that I consider that show to be a show that allows you to turn off your brain and just watch. Of course I think that JL is a far far superior show to that one as well and it really doesn't compare well. However if they're willing to give that show (or even worse Pokemon) all the episodes that they have there's no reason JL shouldn't be allowed to go till it has run its course.

I say allow it to say on as long as the story levels stay up to what we know for the most part (I was worried with the start of season two, but like all things once Hawkgirl was involved the quality improved greatly:p ) And once they no longer can allow the creators to have a nice three or four episode send off for the series.

Waittaminute. Does Justice League even ABIDE by the 52 episode rule? It's still basically the same show and has 91 episodes confirmed. The 52 episode rule on Cartoon Network is a myth. The only network that does that is Kids WB and Disney has a 65 episode rule. As long as Justice League gets great ratings I don't see it stopping, just perhaps going through another name change.

Still waiting for Justice League Beyond and Adventures in the DC Universe.:)

Episode "rules" are myths. The basic principle is having enough episodes to rerun in syndication. Cartoons are not cheap, and getting the same ad revenue and/or ratings for a repeat is better than the same for a new episode.

And such a "rule" doesn't apply to JL/JLU, because it does very well. Its success will always get it more episodes (and even more repeats), until the next DC show comes along.

Perhaps to some it becomes tiresome, but we have to realize that there are new members joining all the time and as more senior members we share the responsibility of helping to inform and point them in the correct direction.

Season 4 was never confirmed, but Timm and McDuffie seem to be confident because of the CN ratings from that time block. It's a shoe-in for a fourth season. But as an extra precaution, they made this current season something special. McDuffie commented that they took some risks this season, and it appears to be some good ones.

but i think usually there is a cut off point. like, its not always based on ratings. if you think about it, i cant imagine, say, btas or even bb ending BECAUSE of low ratings. i think the networks to work w/ set numbers of episodes, even for sucessfull shows, and if its really sucessfull then it runs over, say, 52 episodes.

Syndication is at the 5 season range, usually

I never did like this 52 ep`s thing that started somewhere in the 90`s. In the 80s popluare shows like TF,TMNT,G.I.Joe all had over 80 ep`s because they were poplulare. As long the crew can keep making good stories keep the characters intresting, then a show should last a long time.
