In the post on members people think would be good JLA members, someone said the Atom and I remembered most League's have a resident scientist member, like Atom or Steel. I realized there wasn't one in JL, but then I also remember how Batman tied into the Enemy Below, he saved Aquaman by sort of a scientist's way, studying his surroundings and suck. And the temperature for the water and all. Batman IS the scientist, yet its not a total change to his character, it sort of is in the League's history. Grant Morrison brought in Steel, and sometimes Oracle played the role, and then issue 42 had the Atom back in the scientist role as he is in Dark Knight 2 from Frank Miller now. Its sort of weird. Anyone know what I mean ?

I love having the Atom as the JLA's resident scientist, because that's all he is. Batman's a scientist, criminalogist, detective, martial artist, etc. Ray Palmer was a scientist before he became the Atom, and it's still his first and foremost love. Heck, he teaches science at a university, only doing the Atom thing every once in awhile on a need-only basis.

And I'm a huge fan of the Atom. So THAT'S why he should show up! :D
