OK, for those that have seen Wedding Peach: At the end of some of the transformation sequences with all three protagonists, they'll say, "A toast with milk!", "Friends forever!", click glasses, and drink.
Now.... first of all. Yuck. I can't stand drinking milk plain. I need something to go with it to dilute the flavor, like cookies. Or ANYTHING. And I think most people agree on that. I haven't met many milk chuggers, because it leaves an aftertaste in your mouth.
But this leads me to ponder something... did ADV change something for the dub? I mean, was it originally wine in those glasses and they changed it to make it more family friendly? After all, they ARE high school girls. And those glasses do look remarkably like wine glasses. Or am I overthinking this and it was ALWAYS a toast with milk?

...Since when has ADV EVER toned anything down?
Honestly.

and you could probably confirm this for yourself. Switch the DVD to the Japanese audio track.
If they say something like "Gyuunyu kanpai" or "miluku", then it was like that in the original.

...Since when has ADV EVER toned anything down? And I'm glad they don't. :) Well, except for Gantz on Anime Network. Although I guess it doesn't really count, since it's uncut on DVD.
If they say something like "Gyuunyu kanpai" or "miluku", then it was like that in the original. Ah, OK. Those are some Japanese words that I don't know. I only know the basic ones, like "Gomen nasai". ;)

And I guess the people who worked on Wedding Peach didn't want to encourage non-healthy drinks, so chugging a glass of pop is automatically out. And with wine, they might be a little tipsy fighting, and they have to stay in tip-top shape to fight those demons. :p
Maybe the slogan of the show should've been, "Milk. It does an angel body good."
Maybe they're drinking White Russians? Or a milkshake. Hey, a little extra sugar before kicking some butt- why not?

Really? Back when I was in high school we used to have milk chugging contests. Hmmm...yeah it does have an aftertaste. But, I usually brush my teeth shortly after drinking it.

Really? Back when I was in high school we used to have milk chugging contests. Hehe... so did we. It's next to impossible to keep it down, though- a friend of mine got through 3/4 of the gallon and vomited it all up. We took a picture mid-spew. ;)

A whole gallon? You were trying to chug a whole gallon! I actually heard that you'll die if you chug a whole gallon because the milk will start to curdle in your stomach and your stomach won't have enough room and it will explode. Don't know if it's true or not...
It's more believeable than Team Rocket getting drunk off tap water. :P
BTW, Pokémon also had a scene with Ash, Misty, and Brock drinking milk out of wine glasses.

BTW, Pokémon also had a scene with Ash, Misty, and Brock drinking milk out of wine glasses. Huh. Makes me wonder if that's a custom in Japan to toast with milk, or if it's just a common cliche in animation. :confused:
Before Wedding Peach was liscensed by ADV, I had seen the first eight episodes of the series. From what I can tell, having watched most of series through ADV's release, they didn't change much.

If they say something like "Gyuunyu kanpai" or "miluku", then it was like that in the original.I haven't learned Japanese, but when I listened to episode 17 (on Disc 3, "Spring Storm"), I did hear "kanpai" and "milk" in the Japanese audio track when the Love Angels did the toast.

Miruku or miluku is just the way a Japanese person would pronounce the English word milk. Kanpai means cheers. The online J/E dictionary confirms that gyuunyu is the Japanese word for milk (http://linear.mv.com/cgi-bin/j-e/dosearch?sDict=on&H=PS&L=J&T=Gyuunyu&WC=none&fg=r&S=26).

So, drinking all that milk will cause it to turn into sour cream in your stomach? Yeech! :eek:

Captain Ginyu's name from Dragon Ball Z is based off of milk. So, his name could be Captain Milk! :rolleyes2

Yep.
Ginyu=milk
Jeese=cheese
Bhuta=butter
Recoom=cream
Gurudo=yogurt
So, together they form the dairy products force! ...Or just the milk force, if you prefer...

... I like milk plain. As long as it is cold. Hot milk tastes like the devil's spitting. :ack:
