They seem to put a major emphasis on showing just how strong Aquaman is, which pleases me. They didn't use the aquatic telepathy as well, which I dug.

Making a point right from Jumpstreet to distance him from the superfriends.

1. Aquaman says "Ah he's got quite a grip" to which Mera replies "Takes after his father".

2. Mera tells Aquaman his hands are "strong and noble"

3. Just pummels a Cadillac's fr  ont end, lifting it off the ground when he smashed it casually.

4. Doctor in the emergency room yells "No can do his skin is tougher than a rhino's"

5. Knocks out Green Lantern with one punch.(That shot was as satisfying as Johnny Depp smacking Richard Grieco on 21 Jumpstreet!)

6. Shoves WW out of the way. It may not seem like much, but not any old hero is moving her like that!

I have a feeling that they tried really hard with Aquaman because he's both a guest character who has a lot of fan support, and because they know that there are a lot of jokes about the old Aquaman from Superfriends and that they had to do a good job on him so that people would take him seriously.

I think it was yesterday when the ad for The Daily Show had Jon Stewart (notice this isn't JOHN Stewart ;) ) say "Learn why no one says 'This is a job for Aquaman!'"

Anyways, they did a great job with the new Aquaman. He isn't just some guy who talks to fish, he's a king and a father! And he doesn't need to ride a seahorse when he can wreck cars with his superstrength! I am already eagerly anticipating any stories they might do using him next season.

Gotta love the 21 Jumpstreet references (shhh - I've even got the soundtrack :D) - and I agree - nice to see them building a strong character in Aquaman. I've always liked him. :)

I had a few doubts about Aquaman strength. I know that his tough but the way he pummels that car felt a bit overblown. Don't get me wrong. I like his new Aquaman look, except for ear rings, and the fact that he doesnt depend as much of aquatic telepathy so much. They could of toned it down a bit. I also have the same reaction about WW. I dont mean to make Superman the person with muscles on the team but tweak it down a bit.

From everything that I've read about Aquaman, his strength is considerable. I think the way he was shown in JL was well done. Smashing up a car in the manner he did also goes along well with his personality traits.
Also his physical size is pretty much along the lines of descriptions I've seen (except when the animators get lazy and make him the same height as GL). He is supposed to be a big guy, though one description I read of him put him at 6'6" and something like 600 lbs., or was it 400lbs?(pure muscle, of course) Can't quite remember.

I've always seen his height and weight at 6'1" 320 lbs. In many scenes he just towered over people that cop especially after smashing that cadillac then lifting him off the ground, he had the cop by a full foot at least?

a lot of jokes about the old Aquaman from Superfriends

Heh, you should go to Seanbaby.com and look on the Superfriends page. :D

I'm not sure it matters. I think part of the reason that the JL men are so huge is that they are supposed to be god-like, and tower over normal people, in how they appear and what they can do.

Except GL. He's just short.
