View Full Version : Yu-Gi-Oh! 4/30 Talkback

Previously, on Yu-Gi-Oh! Waking the Dragons:
Angry at Joey's defeat, Yami has stormed Dartz's building, ready to unleash hell! Unfortunately, Rapheal stands in his way. He's defeated Mai, now Yugi's next! And to make things worse, he's activated the Seal of Orichalcos!
This week:
Yami finishes his Duel with Rapheal, who is going down the same path Yami did in their last Duel. We get to explore Rapheal's past, and Yami must make one of the toughest decisions of his life! Will Tamaius be of any use?
Spoilers: Spoilers are evil. Yes they are.
Note: Rapheal's parents may still be dead. The whole "My parents forgot about me!" stuff may have just been made up by Dartz to increase Rapheal's rage. It seems to be the smart thing to do...

You know, just on a whim I switched to this for 10 minutes. Filled to the brim with cheese, but this line was priceless:
Yugi (paraphrased): I will play this card to make you confront and overcome the darkness inside you!
Raphael: Yeah, whatever.
My thoughts exactly, Raphael. My thoughts exactly.
And....Kaiba's still obsessed over defeating Yugi? I swear this show never changes. Evil villian, Yugi must save the world, Kaiba has his superiority complex, somebody lost their soul and they have to win it back. Bam, every season of Yu Gi Oh in a nutshell, I just saved people lots and lots of time. I can see how watching it could be worth it for comedic value.

Bam, every season of Yu Gi Oh in a nutshell, I just saved people lots and lots of time.Well, there weren't any trapped souls in Battle City (there kinda was in the Noah Arc, but that's different). Plus, Dartz is stealing all the souls he can to gain power in order to rule the world, whereas Pegasus did it basically to taunt the heroes.
Also, Kaiba has nothing better to do than plot ways to defeat Yugi. After all, how else should a multi-billion company president spend his time?
One thing I forgot to say before: Dartz gave Rapheal a Chaos Disc back when Raph was a kid (which I believe was about 10-15 years ago), but Kaiba didn't invent his Duel Disc until about 2 years ago (show time).

Well, there weren't any trapped souls in Battle City Well I most likely don't know as much about it as you do, but I kinda thought Marik counted because he was basically possessed and slowly being destroyed by evil Marik, and the whole final fight with him was more or less a battle to rescue the soul of good Marik.

Kaiba stopped wanting to beat Yugi at the end of Battle City in the original, and he never picks up the streak again outside the dub. :) Plus the whole 'saving the world' aspect is just thrown into the dub because every show needs high stakes. ;)

Well, I can only describe these 2 eps in 2 words: creepy & amazing!
The roughest part was when Yami played that magic card (I won't say it's name) to show Raphael's past and then duel-wise made both of them play only warriors that were sent to the graveyard!
Even though Raphael's zombie warrior seemed unstoppable (he had to discard one card each time to make it keep returning), I'm glad Yami was able to use Hermos to defeat it. (Actually, Yami fused Hermos & Queen's Knight to form "Goddess Bow" to make Raphael keep discarding till he had practically no cards left.):D
Finally, I'm glad to see Raphael saw the errors of his ways and finally turned to the good side.:D
WHEW!!! I'm glad that's over with! But now, what's with that sudden earthquake?! Guess we'll just have to wait till next time to find out!
One other thing I should mention, next week starts the huge six-part final battle of Yami & Kaiba vs. Master Dartz himself! This is what we've been waiting for everyone! Do NOT miss it! It will be one rough duel to the end!:ack:

Grappling with a Guardian comes to an end. Which duelist comes on top?
Part 2 (6 out of 10):
- A little surprised the Pharaoh put himself on the fence (in terms of life points) so quickly... but he's always got a plan, it seems.
- A bit ironic Raphael is follow the mistakes of the Pharaoh from their last battle.
- Old cards and new cards alike. It's been ages since he used Magical Hats, for instance! And Magical Pigeons... there's a weird card.
Part 3 (7 out of 10):
- You see! Becoming corrupted darkens everything around you! Raphael almost loses his favorite card, Guardian Iatos, in the process!
- So there's a way to escape the Seal of Orichalchos... renouncing the evil inside? Looks like the Pharaoh got to him in the nick of time...
OK, so if you renounce your evilness, the seal stops working, right? Then shouldn't Joey still be walking and talking right now, since Mai did just that?

My thoughts exactly, Raphael. My thoughts exactly. No, the best line was Kaiba's:
"Yugi is going to be beaten by Raphael! The nerve! I SHOULD BE THE ONE!" :anime: I don't think they proofread these anymore.
I had to leave at the point where Yugi was down to 10 points and against a monster that could not be killed. HOW did he win?

Magical Pidgeons. Leave it to the dub writers to keep coming up with new, exciting, and in cases like this, bizarre cards for Yugi/Pharoah to bust out. My first reaction was, obviously, "The heck?"
Gotta love it when Yuge busts out the classics (Magical Hats)
Amulet Dragon and Goddess Bow were pretty sweet Timeus combos.
And of course, Raph goes good.
He won't last much longer, though.
Overall score for the hour: 8.
Yugi/Kaiba vs. Dartz starts next week, and if KWB continues at the pace re-started this week, we should have this saga wrapped up by middle of next month.

Reafhel is the only one of Dartz's henchmen that didn't lose his soul, Pretty good episodes.
I had to leave at the point where Yugi was down to 10 points and against a monster that could not be killed. HOW did he win?IIRC, Yugi managed to bring back Guardian Iatos on his side of the field, them combined it with Joey's Claw of Hermos to form Goddess Bow, which destroyed Rapheal's freakish zombie monster. Then Rapheal brought back all his monsters from his Graveyard, at the cost of the rest of his life points.

I missed part I of this battle, so I had to catch up with today's episodes. And they were so very Yu-Gi-Oh. Confront the darkness in your heart:p Sorry, just seemed extremely cheesy while I was watching. Really, every time Yami opened his mouth, something cheesy seemed to come out... more than usual, anyway.
Gotta love those special abilities that just seem to pop up out of nowhere, huh? Fun stuff.
Anywho, pt. II and III gets a 6/10

I think it was that Mai renounced it after the duel was over.
