Previously, on Gundam Seed: While trying to seek shelter during the ZAFT attack on Heliopolis, young student Kira Yamato finds himself inside the cockpit of a new mobile suit, along with a young, female, well-proportioned Federation officer. What's a young Kira to do? ;)

Today, on Gundam Seed: The attack continues. While the other four stolen mobile suits have already escaped into space, Miguel, a young ZAFT soldier, stays behind to take down the last suit still in Federation control.

This talkback is intended for the discussion of this episode, and is really only important to anyone who has yet to see this episode, or has already seen the entire series, and wants to talk about how things were "way back then". No spoilers allowed.

Good hunting, men.

Well, another Gudam episode. This time, No DISCO! But other than that, it's pretty slow paced. At least we do get another duel between Mu and Rau. And on the plus side, the Bridge crew get speking parts.
Kira pulls through in this episode, saving the day by upgrading the Gundam's OS to Windows.

We see cameos from Fllay, thats always a plus. Rau actually seems sane in these earily episodes. I really like the Mobius Zero Moble amor, it just looked so cool. And its always nice to hear Natatrle give orders agian, smart and resourceful girl that she is.

But all in all, this episode marks the begining of SEEDS sail march that causes it to losse viewers. This episode also gives us some thechial details on the Gundam, as well as showing us that Kira wants to protect his friends. An average 3 out of 5.

Not as much happens in this episode than in the first episode, but I still enjoy it. We see the aftermath of the initial attack the secret base, Kira gets to go nuts updating the OS, and Murrue points her gun at everyone.

Kira's friends seem pretty shocked about that the war hits close to home, as well as getting a gun pointed at them. I though it was cool when Tolle and Kuzzey check out the Gundam (tekheads :p ). i also liked how Kira's posse begins to complain about Murrue pointing a gun at them and saying that they are nutral. I thought it was a good scene.

And whats with the options!? One seems a little too um, questionable?

But it's true. Take a look at the Strike's OS screen while Kira is messing around with it.

Late at night + not that exciting = baaaad combo.

We get to see Kira dish out his first and so very far from his last YAMATOWNAGE. Though Strike without a striker pack is sort of...bleh.

Average....7/10.

Next episode: A rare appearance from Launcher Strike. It's been quite a while, hasn't it?

But once again, how did I not get bored of this series in the beginning and run off? It's a wonder...

I think even this early on SEED was show it's pacing problems. This episode feels kinda slow. Not sure if it's at the end of this episode or the start of the next, but the quick shot of Murrue's reaction when Archangel bursts into the colony annoys me in the dub. In the original, she just shouts "ARCHANGEL!" which makes sense because she's suprised to see it. In the dub, she says "Look, it's the Archangel!". Why? Kira's friends have no idea what the Archangel is at this point so why address them as if they did?

Miguel prances around like a moron while giving Kira all the time in the world to reprogram his OS. He would have done the world a great service in just following through right there...

Forgive me, but can someone inform me why there is a talkback thread for individual episodes when the show has already aired before?

This is like me going to the adult swim board and making a topic for Cowoboy Bebop episode 15 or something. @_@

Look out!

I already asked this question and got "SHUT YER HOLE" as an answer!

This is the first time SEED has been rerunned, and it's been a year since some of us have seen these episodes.

So when Lupin, FLCL, and Case Closed rerun, I'm going to go make talkbacks for them. Because apparently that's alright.

Geez people, if you missed them the first time around, you don't need more talkbacks. Just go buy the DVDs. It's less clutter for the board that way.

Personally, I don't see what the problem is. No one's forcing you to read these things and it's only once a week. The original talkbacks are too clogged up with arguments and spoilers. This is just something for those of us who liked the series to indulge in, looking back on things after having seen the show through. People are getting very quick to dictate to each other around here lately. Let's just let everyone enjoy their respective fandoms in peace.

NEVER! You are clogging up MY board! MINE!

...Unless there WERE no talkbacks for the early episodes, I honestly don't see the point.

Okay, now that we've established who Rusty is, who the hell is Miguel?

Miguel's the disposable pilot in the Jinn in this episode and the next. Apparently he's supposed to be some kind of mentor figure to the ZAFT kids, although the writers didn't care enough to establish it properly.

...Unless there WERE no talkbacks for the early episodes, I honestly don't see the point. There were, but they are in the Toonami forum buried under nearly a years worth of topics. We would have to bug a mod to dig them up and throw them over here on a weekly basis, and in the end it's just alot easier to make these topics.

Different forums have different rules. I don't think the Anime Forum would be too happy if you did that.

So, why didn't they have Miguel steal one of the Gundams instead of piloting a worthless Jinn?

Would I be banned if I were to make random discussion topics here now, like one for episode 5 of Hellsing, 1 for episode 7 of Avenger, and then a few for random episodes of Shadow Skill?

Not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but it's only fair.

He was probably able to provide better cover.

1) He's a brief cameo for the singer of the first OP

2) His character's parents aren't on the PLANT council

You're not? Could have fooled me...

These talkbacks go with the re-runs being aired by CN. There's nothing random about them. Just please drop it already.

I'm not a mod of this specific forum so I can't tell you for sure, but it would be possible if you kept doing it. It would depend on whether you were doing it to make some point or if you were doing it because you really wanted to discuss those specific episodes.

However, the Gundam SEED Talkbacks are not "random" discussion topics since they are made in conjunction with the specific episode airing on television.

Miguel's job was to be part of the escort. Athrun, Yzak, Dearka, Nicol, and Rusty had been specially trained for this mission.

In a retroactive change from an extra story in Astray Vol. 3, he would have used his custom orange GINN with improved weaponry and thrusters, but it was damaged in a battle with Gai Murakamo right before the Heliopolis raid, thus explaining why he took out his regular GINN and proceeded to get his butt kicked.

Although, with the way he was piloting in Episodes 2 and 3, I don't even think his own custom GINN would have saved him :D

Thank you. All I want is to have a place to discuss these episodes, which haven't been aired publicly since a year ago. And for the sake of comedy, I've been enjoying trying my hand at the whole Talkback thing.

If Karl or Duke have a problem with what I'm doing, they'll let me know, and then we can politely figure out a way to make everyone happy.

Makes me wonder once more how the series would feel if Yzak or Dearka were killed, and Rusty or Miguel became one of the main characters.

As it stands, Miguel is just another Gene.

Better if Kira had killed Athrun without realizing it, then gone on to be a serious soldier and only discovered his mistake much later in the series.

Destiny would be a veeeeery different show without Athrun. So would SEED, for that matter.....
