*Slaps self*

Yikes, oh my goodness where did that come from? Guys don't ever, EVAR, let me talk like that again. If you ever catch me possesed by the evil spirits of bad hip hop talk again feel free to tie me down and beat them outta me...I feel like cutting out my own tounge. :ack:

Anyway we got a new episode today Friday the 29th (still technically the 28th here in California as I write this but oh well) anyway this episode is called Body Guard Duty and involves Jake protecting the Oracle twins from harm. Apparently there's also going to be more development of the Jake/Rose relationship which I personally feel has been the best aspect of the show.

Enjoy.

This is the first Jake Long I was actually able to watch all the way through. (I was distracted whenever I tried to watch before.) Anyway, it's pretty well... meh. The animation is nothing special, but it does it's purpose. I liked the Oracle twins as characters, but I hate the premise behind their powers, that the future is set in stone and nothing can change it. The episode was okay, but nothing spectacular. I think I'll watch a few more episodes before I pass judgement on anything, though.

Am I the only one here who found that absolutely hilarious? Spud and Trixie tie the knot. Jake is hit by a boulder going 180 miles per hour. Eh, maybe I just enjoy all things cliche, but personally I really enjoyed watching this. I'll post more about this later, once I get the chance to watch it again.:D

EDIT:
Heh, just finished watching it for a second time. So here are my favorite lines.

Grandpa: Ah, Jake. Cutting one corner just leads to two more.
Jake: Uh, you just cut up my homework.

Sara: I just get visions. Horrible, disturbing visions that haunt my every waking moment. Not to mention my nightmares.
Kara: Mine always have cinnamon rainbows and (something) puppies in them. I hate puppies.

Sara: Someone's gonna steal your pudding.
Nerdy looking kid: Sigh. Not again.

Random kid: Attitude, Jazzhands and I'm off! Fosse, fosse, fosse!

Jake: I'd kiss you if I didn't think you'd slap the living daylights outta me.
Kara: Ooh, good call.

Goblin in disguise: What are you looking at sister? Eh, heh, that's right keep walking! Bobby's mine. Mine!

Sara: The bad news is your gonna be hit by a boulder going a hundred and eighty miles an hour. Wow, that's gonna hurt!

Gotta' love Grampa's scissors. I have some other observations but I'll save them for later.

EDIT#2: Fixed the "fossying" comment.

Personally I thought that this episode was pretty funny. I really enjoyed Tara Strong as the Oracle twins (especially the brooding one, busting out the Raven voice..very nice).

I also thought the idea of the twins having opposite powers as to what you'd expect. I think it's true that some people who only have positive experiances are miserable, and those who see alot of tragedy often have optomistic. I tip my hat to the writers for noting that.

One thing I was kinda disapointed in was the lack of Jake Rose interaction. I don't know if it was the ads rasing my hopes or what but I expected more. I do however like the way the writers played with us with the "That Rose..." line in the middle of the ep. I also liked how the ended the episode on a question about Rose as well.

Overall I give this episode a 9, definatly one of the better ones as this series goes.

And a delightful lack of "hip" language or at least not noticablly bad hip hop language. Even Jake's rap to the Proffesor wasn't as horrible as it should have been.

The show was great. Jeff Goode, Chris Roman, Matt Negrete, Eddie Guizilian and company are doing a great job. I think this show will prove naysayers wrong as it is gaining momentum and fan base will get stronger if Disney allows the show to run its course.

May I also comment on the Trixie/Spud dialoge in this episode. The "You two are going to tie the not" thing was a nice little suprise. Of course I eventually figured out that they had misinterpreted it, but it still led to some pretty funny stuff. Truth be told though I wouldn't be suprised if they eventually got together anyway, it's not like they don't already act married.

Just something odd I noticed while watching it the second time. When the kid who's "fossying", the one who is gonna be on Broadyway, runs into the goblins and they tell him to watch it the intro to Static Shock begins to play (or at least something that sounds very much like it.) Just the first three chords.

Really? Which Static intro? There were several.

Seconded...Azaroth Metrion Zinthos! Well, you get the idea. Tara Strong is awesome. And hats off to John DiMaggio for doing that hilarious goblin. The funniest part of the episode (although I like the fact that Spud and Trixie just give up fighting fate and act like a married couple).

I agree. I was hoping we'd see them again after their first appearance, and I like the whole contrast between them.

This is where I'm going to have to diagree with you, Joey. I thought Sara saw that Rose is Huntsgirl early on, and then at the end of the episode she hints at that, but what I didn't like was that she didn't tell Jake what she saw. The guy just saves her life and after blurting out every little thing NOW she goes all cryptic?

Still, unlike you Swonker, I like the fact that their visions always come true in one way or another. And it's not like they see really important stuff to make things too easy for Jake anyway (their powers are watered down, after all).

Just the first three chords, you know dun dun dunn. Right before Lil' Romeo starts to sing. At least I think that's right.

Pretty funny! A little thin though. 7.5/10 sounds fair.

I thought the kid in the hallway was hilarious too! But he was saying "Fosse, Fosse, Fosse" in reference to Bob Fosse. Funny regardless.

The twins were cool. I liked the philosophy behind their personalities. Who can't relate to the concept that if everything in your life is crap, even bad things sound nice!

Think Jake got the message at the end? Nope. "Huh? What-what?" It's more interesting if he doesn't know about Rose yet. Cool moves on the stairwell, kinda like the Peter Parker/MJ scene in "Spider-Man". I think Rose woulda landed on her feet anyway, since she's agile like a cat.

I think Spud & Trixie might end up together yet. They're like two peas in a pod. It's so cute the way she's always taking care of him, tying his shoes and stuff.

Prof. Rotwood reminds me of Colonel Klink on Hogan's Heroes. He's pretty intense. "Nein!" *smack* Gotta love him though.

Did you notice Spud impersonating Curly, when he spun around on the floor trying to touch his nose w/ his tongue? "Woop Woop Woop! Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk!" Ya knucklehead!

Spud is da man!

I felt it encapsulated everything we wanted to do with the show AND satisfy the comedy desires of the Disney Channel. Here's some bullet points:

1) it builds on the mythos of the world with Sara, Kara and the Goblins.
2) it plays around with cool sci-fi ideas like predicting the future and predestination
3) it has a lot of funny moments with Spud and Trixie and STILL manages to tell an engaging story. The comedy comes FROM the story, not forced into it.
4)I thought the animation on the acting was great on many of the characters.
5)I loved the 'breaking the fourth wall' at the end with the sports announcers.
6)while it has comedy moments, there's still some tension, drama, and a great dark ending with Sara eluding to Rose's secret without revealing it to Jake. I love when a show plays into the strengths of it's own continuity.

Its just disapointing that Disney is messing with the shows continuity.
